  1. what's the difference between #42217 and #42170?

    I know #42217 is a D type screen,but what does "D" mean?

and which one is brighter ?

I've heard people said that #42170 is brighter but bit lower contrast.

but how come the older one to be brighter? o_Oa

    thanks a lot .

  2. I'm using 503cw + winder + PM90

    the PM90 is a 2X finder,and I found it's not easy to focus sometimes.

I'm thinking of get a Prism Magnifier (#42459) or a split/grid focusing screen

    or maybe a 3X 45 degree finder .

if I use a Prism Magnifier (#42459) , does that mean I can only see the center part of the image?

since I wear glasses, would it be hard for me to use the 3X 45 degree finder?

    please give me some suggestion,

    apologize for my poor english.

    Thanks so much.

  3. a silly question,I just purchased a cw winder,

and wonder what "L" mode means.

I also heard that there are two version of cw winder

( new design for long exposure and old design with some long exposure problems )

how can I tell whether mine is old one or new ?

    thanks a lot.

  4. I just bought a nokton 35/1.4 (sc).

    it came with a B+W UV/IR cut filter (486)

I only shoot film (b&w, color)

I wonder if this filter is what I need .

should I get the normal filter like B+W uv filter.

since the IR cut filter is for digital camers.

does it cause some effect on color and b&w films?

    thanks a lot .

  5. I just start doing macro work with 4x5 camera

and often have to expose for over 10secs.

has anyone tried the data sheet on ilford's site.

I found many different data of the same film (FP4 HP5) on internet

    and they're all different

I just want to make sure that the official technical data is right (though it's hard to read) .

also I was looking for the technical data of film on Kodak site.

    Portra VC 400 :

"Adjustments for Long and Short Exposures

No filter correction or exposure compensation is required for

    PORTRA 160NC, 160VC, 400NC, 400VC, or 800 Films for

exposures from 1⁄10,000 second to 1 second. For critical

applications with longer exposure times, make tests under

    your conditions."

anyone one has experience of this film ?

    thanks a lot

  6. thanks for all the responds.

    Michael,

I wonder if the depth of field is different between normal lens and macro lens

    when doing macro works.

they should be the same, right?

    Bob,

so you think there is a major difference between macro and non-macro lens

    when doing 1:3~3:1?

I am not able to do the test myself.

is there any information about this that I can look into ?

    thanks a lot

  7. I'm plannig to do lots of 4x5 floral works and thinking whether I should get a macro lens for this.

    I have 2 lenses now , a 90/5.6xl and a APO-Symmar 180/5.6.

I wonder how these two lenses perform let's say from 1:3 to 3:1 macro works.

and compare with macro lenses like makro-symmar or G-Claron on 16x20 B&W prints.

    would there be huge difference?

coz G-claron is bargain second-hand here

I'm thinking to get one if it outperform much better than my two lenses .

    thanks very much : )

  8. Hi, all

    I am thinking to buy a Bessa R2a or Leica M .

I'm wondering if I use a leica M lens and make a 12"x16"print , would there be any difference

    between I use a R2a body and M6 body ?

I'm trying to save some money : ) thx
