  1. Spectacular panorama of Halong Bay. Staying in the private boat overnight in Halong Bay must be a fantastic experience. I guess you just returned from a trip to Vietnam (Sapa & Halong Bay). You seemed to enjoy good weather, as judged from your photos. Lucky you! I myself just returned from Hanoi last week, but we had appalling weather. Well, you win some and lose some. Cheers. This is a unique and well-taken shot of the Shwedagon. I also went on a photo trip to Mynamar in Dec last year, and know that the place is harder to photograph than it looks. Cheers. Jeremy - homepage: www.pbase.com/jeremy101.
  2. Hi Alec, agree this is one of your most striking portraits. In this case, her closed eyes add to the expressiveness of the whole picture. But just curious, did she know you were taking pictures of her, or was it a candid? Notice that in most of your portraits, the subjects either know you were taking pictures of them or have posed for you to take their pictures. Cheers. Jeremy - Homepage: www.pbase.com/jeremy101.

    Have a Puff!

Nice capture, Cherlyn, and I was wondering what the woman/man was doing in the water and then I read your description of the picture which explained it. But what was that she had in her mouth? Smoking a cigarette in water?? Cheers.
  3. Like everyone else, agree that this is a great capture. Animals in action always make great shots, if we manage to capture them. I know this scene very well. Have staked out this spot myself several times in the past. These majestic animals move real fast, and you did well to succeed in freezing their motion with 1/800s - Jeremy (Homepage:- www.pbase.com/jeremy101).

Very clean and sharp image. And congratulations on the purchase of your new camera. So now we can expect more trips and more photos from you... ;-) (Jeremy - Homepage: www.pbase.com/jeremy101)
  4. Beautiful picture, Cherlyn. The range of colour tones and stratification in the rocks is impressive. Assume that this was also taken during the Silk Road trip? Is it a panorama or an elongated crop? There is no clue in the photo such as a distant caravan, etc to tell the size of the rocks, but I guess they must be large. Rgds. - Jeremy (Homepage: www.pbase.com/jeremy101).

    Proboscis Monkey

This must be taken through the glass exclosure. Very well taken under the circumstances, no reflection, and the composition and 'pose' of the monkey is perfect.

    Girl (B&W)

Lovely portrait. Both are nice, but I prefer this B&W one too. Soften the impact of her "white" hair as compared to the color photo, which I am not sure is the case or the result of the lighting. Cheers.
  5. I assume your previous post on "Samsara or Reflections" was made from this shot? It highlights the amazing thing here - although the statues are arranged in 3D space, you managed to photograph them such that they are sitting on a perfect straight horizontal line in the picture! Congrats.

Thanks for the answer. These shots are even more amazing in the case, what with having to freeze the motion of the performer, handle the difficult lighting conditions in the performance hall, take the picture from where you are sitting (or standing) among the audience, etc ... and obtaining a nice background blur too - Great Job!

    Cheers.

    Autumn Colours

Wow! I like this picture. But on my computer, the leaves of the trees appear very 'fine', like as if they were over-sharpened. Or maybe it's just my computer. Rgds.
  6. I like this one. It is a superb candid shot. The eyes! - one can be forgiven if they think you colored them for her in PS ...;-). Just a bit of the man's face intruding into the picture on the right, but this can't be helped. Rgds.

    Living Ambience

The picture exudes a sense of serenity, calm and class, from the subjects to the frame of the swing, the subtle background and the lighting. Not sure if you want to clone or crop off the slight shadow in the foreground at the bottom-left of the picture. An excellent shot to be tresured for perpetuity. Rgds.
  7. Hi, Alec

I have been following your postings and have viewed every photo in your "All my favourite photos" folder. I feel proud that there is such an accomplished and recognised photographer from Singapore. This is another great photo from you. Such a simple scene, and yet you can create a unique photo out of it. I suppose that's what separates a good photographer from the rest. Congrats!

  8. Thank you for replying. I have been browsing Photo.net for a while now, and find your gallery to be one of the more interesting ones. Btw, I am not a subscribed member of Photo.net, nor have I posted any photos on this website. I find that this website seems to emphasize more on 'artistic' or 'creative' photos, while most of my photos are holiday snapshots of family on vacation at popular tourist destinations. So I signed up on PBase instead, and you are welcome to visit my Homepage there (only less than a week old) at www.pbase.com/jeremy101 if you wish. Cheers!
