Nikon 75-300 Velvia, tripod. F100. Other than unsharp mask this one
is un-touched. I shot this intentionally as a silhouette (1)because
of the situation, late on a very cold, very overcast winter day, (2)
because of the mood of the animal. By the way, the cat really is
black. Including his whiskers.
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Your position, exposure and framing all work to give this a peaceful quality. A striking image.

I shot this photograph after about two hours of observation. Mother
and daughter were very playful that particular day. The infant is now
a resident of California and Mom is raising a new off-spring who I
have yet to record.
I would appreciate constructive criticism.
Thanks in advance for your time.

As with all of your portraiture, you seem to capture the essence of the moment. The lighting, your framing of the subject, and that expression... beautiful work!

I think I'm in love! What an angel. Fantastic expression, wonderful pose, light and attitude. Very nice work.

The exposure is right on! Nice shot.

Beautiful, haunting and intriguing. She appears to want to finish something said. I love the photograph.
I would dearly love to have the details on its process. Might you share?
Thank you.

I am drawn to this photograph initially because of the raw intensity it captures. Having grabbed my interest I dwell on the elements and decide that the exposure, tonality, grain, and soft focus all ad to the effect. No doubt we might increase sharpness, moderate exposure and shift the composition. But would that make a better photograph.... or would it not simply create a different photograph?
Congratulations on the POW. Wonderful work.

Wonderful exposure. The details in the trees confirm that fact. I also admire the composition. The photograph draws the eye just as the sunlight would had you been walking through the forest.
POW material if ever. 9/8

Beautiful. Simple. POW material definitley!

Congratulations on having a photograph selected as POW. Richly deserved. Wonderful light, tack sharp focus and perfect exposure. And the composition, smart waiting until that particular match, adds balance..... I must agree with the comment above in having the imagination and the talent to show the magnificence of simple things.

WOW! What a burst of flavor! But alas, the flavor disappears quickly and leaves little behind.

Thank you Daniel, "Almost a little TOO clean for my tastes." That's it!
Please don't get me wrong, your work is some of the best on this site. Your skill and vision are obvious and this shot is proof.....but this, it's just "TOO clean." :-)

Great capture. Exposure is crisp, tack sharp, good action.....but.
By the way Samuel, say hello to Benny Hill for us "Westerners" next time you see him.

Tack sharp. Great background color. The determination in the bird's face makes this shot. Great photograph.
