  1. A lovely portrait, very well done. The lighting highlights her face, and everything else is well subordinated. your cropping is excellent, and I like the little open space to the left. The model's very direct and open gaze is a pleasure, too. Thanks for posting this, and keep up the good work!
  2. This is a very interesting portrait. I really like the mysterious aspect of it. It makes me wonder what the rest of the person looks like, and I keep looking at it in an effort to learn more. Very effective and novel!

Great concept, set, and photo. The single color works very well, and the composition is great. One minor nit: some of the egg highlights seem to be blown out, but that may be the scan, and is very minor in any case. Show us some more still lifes, please!

Sorry, this portrait pose doesn't work for me. I think I can see what you were trying to do, but I believe too much of her face is obscured. The exposure seems ok, and the composition is fine, but I would rather see much more of her face.

This is a striking and very effective photograph. The model is lovely, the colors are well chosen and go well together, and the pose is novel. The way her hair is arranged really contributes beautifully to the overall effect of "beautiful mystery" and I find that I keep looking back and forth between her eye and her right breast, feeling sort of trapped in the photo. My only negative comment is that the whole photo won't fit on my screen, and that does detract from its impact.

Please show us more of your work!

  3. I really like this picture; it gives me a feeling of involvement with the model, even though she clearly has reservations about something. The lighting is excellent, and the tonality is very smooth and effective. I do think that the branch in the foreground is superfluous and the picture would be much cleaner without it. You've also done an excellent job of separating the model from the background.

Shoot more B&W -- it looks like you're good at it!

This is a wonderful portrait, deceptively simple but not really simple at all. The central strand of hair, the partly hidden and complex expression, and the overall clarity of the model's straightforward look into the camera combine to make me keep looking at this picture in an effort to understand it better.

It's a real pleasure to see this; please send us more of such wonderful work!

    Girl...

I like this picture a lot, but there are a couple of things that I think could be better. The background is quite distracting, and needs to be much more blurred out. In addition, her head blends a little too much into that background, and you need to make it stand out more, either by making the background darker, or by adding edge light to her hair. I also think that you might want to place her face a little lower in the frame, so there is more room above her head.

Her expression is very nice, and I like the pose, as well as her very direct look into the lens. Overall an excellent photo, and one that brings me back to look at it more closely. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I must agree with your title for the photo. I love the wonderful skin texture and tone, the clarity and forthrightness of the look and expression, and the idea of coloring the eyes. I do think that the eyes are a little too vivid a blue. They are so blue that they look too unreal, and the rest of the picture does not get the attention it deserves.

Overall an excellent effort, well worth a second (and third!) look. Good work!

  4. I think it's a good shot of a great idea, and I'm glad to see someone having some fun with their photography. We need more humor in this forum; too many people take all this stuff too seriously all the time.
  5. I like the picture and its concept. I think you have the exposure exactly right for a dramatic and maybe foreboding image. The composition suits the subject well. Now all you might think of doing is removing the crossing wire with Photoshop or some other program.

    Excellent photo overall.

The background is much too busy, and the light is too harsh. Try a simpler, cleaner background, more out of focus, and some fill lighting to open the shadows, especially on her face.

This is a beautiful photograph of a beautiful woman. I am especially taken by the skin tones and smoothness, the skin markings, the fact that her mouth is hidden but hinted at, and the lovely fabric surrounding her head. On the other hand, I think I would have left in all of her right hand, and (if you use Photoshop) I would have cleaned up the white of her left eye.

These minor nits aside, I love the picture.
