Located near the summit of Mt. Tohamsan, east of the historic city of
Gyeongju, this bell pavilion was the site of a bell-ringing ceremony
celebrated in Korea during the solar new year. At midnight the bell is
rung almost a hundred times to bring in the new year. The background
smoke was created from a performance by buddhist dancers in front of
the bell pavilion. Glad I was able to be there to witness the
beautifully lit structure along with the serene performances
throughout the night. A nice change from the rowdy parties that take
place back in Canada. Photo was taken at 11:50pm, minutes away from
the new year(2004).
Like many other Asian countries, Korea has two different New Year's
days according to solar and lunar calendars. The more widely preferred
one is the lunar New Year's day, called So-lal.

A chilly moment with a really old Gingko tree. Photo was taken near
the historic city of Gyeong Ju during the 2004 winter season.
Image captured with an infrared filter(Hoya R72) attached to the Canon
G2. Image then post processed in Photoshop. Adjustments: Auto-levels,
channel mixer, +saturation

slightly cropped in Photoshop.

While walking along the coast on the weekend, my eyes were drawn to
this patch of rocks covered by deep green algae. Taken late in the
evening, the slow shutter speed allowed for a nice effect of the waves
hitting the rocks. Comments please...

After a bottle of wine I decided to get creative and produced this
abstract shot. Had fun with my light table and the wine glass partly
filled.

What we sometimes don't see is the beauty that lies beneath the face
of a flower. Comments welcome.
