Are you bonkers? Absolutely!

There is no way you would enjoy any of the places you mentioned in your original post because you'd constantly looking at your watch knowing that you need to move on.

Go to Zion and MAYBE Bryce Canyon and that's it. you will not have time for anything else. Plan a 2nd trip for the Moab area.

You've got "Long Exposure Noise Reduction" enabled. The camera processes your exposure - it takes as long (or almost as long) as your shot. Switch it off - if the a7R allows you to do that (I do not own one),

Adoramapix is way better than Blurb. I use them for all my landscape photography books. You can download their color profiles and color match your pictures as long as your monitor is color corrected. Results are outstanding.

Their software needs some getting used to but you should have it down after 30 minutes playing with it.

PS: I tried to use Blurb 3 separate times because I kept reading that people had gotten good results and was disappointed every single time.

I own Canon DSLRs and the NEX6. You will not be happy with the NEX6 or any other mirrorless camera for action photography - and that seems to be your main reason for considering the NEX6 or the new A7/r.
Why don't you look at the small DSLR offerings from Canon or Nikon. They will be way better in the AF department, including tracking of dogs and kids. Something like the Canon SL1 would probably work really well for you.

So, all of you defending Canon - you would NOT buy the next Canon body with improved DR, no banding when shadows are being pushed and higher MPs for landscapes because you are happy with the gear you currently have - right?

Stop kidding yourself, Canon is way behind the competition when it comes to sensor technology. I shoot landscapes and better DR is a major issue for me.

-

Let's be honest - when is the last time Canon released anything fundamentally new? They seem to be content with their status quo in the camera market place. Their sensor technology is way behind the competition, their attempt to get a foot in the mirror less market was a total joke and failure. Sony now has a FF mirror less camera while Canon is stuck in the stone ages.
Canon might just too big to get the curve in the ever changing camera landscape.
I am heavily invested in Canon but really feel let down by them. Come on, Canon, get off your behinds and get moving again!

Because of the small body size Sony is limited as to how big the batteries can be. We'll be stuck with short battery life on these cameras for quite some time. I have a NEX 6 and I just carry two spare batteries with me all the time - no big deal.

And why should we trust Adobe to NOT significantly raise their rental fee? While $9.99 sounds reasonable, I have no faith whatsoever that Adobe won't screw us down the road - again. I will stick with what I currently own.

-

Canon needs to wake up and give people what they want. They've been lacking behind in sensor development and their latest lens prices are beyond reasonable. The "M" was a total joke. They need new leadership - desperately.

He did say that the quote from Canon for repair was AUD$1130.18.

Good luck fighting an insurance company. They will find some loop hole that will screw you and make them money.

We used to own a house in Theule sur Mer overlooking the Bay of Cannes. Our former neighbor is still renting out his villa. It has more than two bedrooms though and it might be completely rentet out already for this season but it might be worth a shot.

Just google "Villa Magdalena, Theoule-sur-Mer"

There are many, many other villas for rent. Hopefully you have a big enough budget because none of them are cheap:-)

Adobe confirmed that you will still be able to buy Lightroom directly as a non-subscription product. That really solves my problem. I will use LR as my main editor (incl. RAW support) and if I need more heavily lifting in Photoshop I'll continue using my CS5. That's all I need. I will not use their subscription model at all.

This is the craziest workflow I have ever come across. Who edits their pics in-camera? And to top it off uses a camera from a different manufacturer. When I read the question I honestly thought someone was pulling our leg and making fun of us. I am still not convinced that's not the case.

View it on a 3D capable TV?

I find that using a Polarizing Filter with my 17-40 on FF gives me a lot of vignetting and uneven hues - at least when shooting blue skies. It might make your HDR files even more difficult to work with.

-

Just get the LR4 upgrade - it is well worth it over LR3. That way you can process your RAWs in LR4 and if you need to do more editing in PS, just send them over. DNG is an option but it is not for everyone (I want to work on the original CR2 files).

If you want to do sight seeing I would recommend that you take I17 North with a stop in Sedona (minimum one night, better two) lots to see and do in Sedona, then you should stop at the Grand Canyon South Rim (spend one night) and then off to Las Vegas. In Vegas there's tons to do, esp. if your wife is NOT into landscapes, etc. If you want to get out of town go to Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire. There are no accommodations in Valley of Fire - so it is an in-and-out trip but easily doable in one day.

Why not sit down with them, bring your portfolio and explain your style. Make sure they understand that's they way you expect to shoot their wedding as well and get a reaction. Better get the bad news now than after the wedding is done and you have to deal with disgruntled clients.

Getting the SD cards into the NEX-6 has been a point of frustration for me as well. The way the slot is positioned makes it very difficult to get the right angle to push the SD card into that slot. The door is always in the way.

I have learned to live with it but it is not ideal.

You are in Europe, therefore the Loyalty program will not work for you. It is most likely not economically feasible to repair your G9s. I would just list them on eBay describing the issues and see what you can get for them.

Almost looks like a double exposure:-) Give us more info. The EXIF is stripped! Mode? Shutter Speed? Flash? etc. What flash mode - any chance you used rear curtain sync?

It sounds you have made up your mind already - not sure why you are asking for advice. As long as you have the 7D as backup, you should be fine. You obviously understand the advantages of the 5DIII - just go for it.

Check the BDA website - they have bird counts! I typically go in late December early January. It gets below freezing at night and in the early morning hours. Often the Cranes will be standing in frozen ponds in the morning and you can watch them trying to break free, When they finally take off they have ice rings around their legs:-)
Plan on spending at least three days at the reserve. You will need the time to figure out where the best locations are. It changes every year based on which fields they flood. Bring a thermos with coffee or hot tea in the morning and food. It'll be a while before you get back to your hotel. Nearest place to stay is Soccorro.

How about Diafine? Mix it once and use it forever. 3 minutes in solution A, 3 minutes in Solution B and you're done. Temperature (almost) does not matter. I live in AZ and the"cold" water during the summer months is too warm for most developers but using Diafine I can develop all year long. My batch of Diafine is now two years old and it still works as on day one.

I guess the fact that you are not getting a lot of feedback tells you something about the level of interest for your AI app.
I checked it out and can honestly say that I would not at all be interested in it, esp. for a fee. I just don't see the added value.
