I was wanting to try out LF, but everything seems so expensive! (but then
again, I still think the Canon Rebel is expensive). Just wondering, should I
try LF using a pinhole camera? I saw one called Obscura and its very cheap in
comparison to actual cameras. I'm just wondering if its worth trying pinhole,
if making large prints is my goal? Thanks!

Regarding the quote about the x-pro, my P series doesn't vignette even on my 24mm.
-
I use film, and I like the 24mm view over the 35mm. The 28mm f/1.8 is pretty good too. Its reasonably cheap, has USM and also a wide aperture (compared to the 24mm 35mm non-L versions). The other lens I would recommend would be the 17-40mm f/4L, a bit more expensive but very good quality and very versatile. Plus, it covers both 24mm and 35mm. Unless you need the fast aperture, go for the 17-40mm. (The 16-35mm is even faster, but also twice as expensive.)

What I want would be a full frame camera, but then as a student, my finances don't exactly allow that. What I need is a decent digital camera that can take photos instantly (no lag after pressing button). Since I have a few good primes already, I'm not worried about the lens. By the comments so far, I guess its not a bad idea to get it?

Its a myer centre. I was surprised too, but I guess some myers just weren't able to sell it since the 350D came out.

I just saw a 300D new available for $500 AUD (about $360 USD). Its from a large
department store, and it comes with everything except the kit lens (which I
don't need anyway). Just wondering, is it worth getting? I currently only have
a rebel film camera.

Hi, I just bought Tri-x 400 (pan) and so since this is the first
time I was wondering should I change any settings? (exposure, iso,
processing, etc...) Thanks!
-
Thank you everyone! I see my problem now. ISO 100... I think my handholding technique should be ok? I tried on another film outside, that was mostly with shutter speeds of 1/125 and 1/60, all photos were not blurry.

How do I stop my pictures from being blurry. I use a reasonably fast
lens (50mm f/1.8) on a film camera. However, for indoor shots,
sometimes I need a very slow shutter speed (1/4s) for a decent
exposure. I can't use a tripod (for those situations), and IS is out
of my league (money wise). What advice could anyone give me? Thank
you.

20D for only 1649 AUD?!?! Are you sure that's the new price?
-
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm definitely holding off for a while, my film slr still works well atm...

I'm thinking of getting the 20D, and the two cheapest prices were 2,000
for only body or 2080 for body and kit lens. This is AUD so the 80
difference is about 57 USD. I already have many good primes to use,
so I'm certain I won't bother with the kit lens. However, seeing its only
80 more, would it be better to get that and try sell it? Would that work?
Thanks. (kit lens is 18-55)

Just wondering, is there a place I can find the past trend in the
prices of DSLR? I know the prices keep dropping, but how fast? I was
going to make a graph myself, but the wayback machine doesn't seem
to be working for me. Anyone can help?

A few years ago when I started learning photography, I was using the
school's pentax cameras which needed no batteries, yet took amazing
photos (was using 50mm prime at the time). After that, I didn't
touch a slr for almost 4 years, and now I have a canon eos 300x
(rebel t2). Its just that after using this camera, I have the urge
to use a non-battery operated slr. Where would I possibly go to find
one? Also, will canon or nikon ever make a camera like that in the
future? (i doubt it?) thanks.
Start with pinhole?
