Sounds like the CP-E3 is the way to go. It's smaller, and less expensive than the Quantum I rent. I have 5 weddings booked so far for this year and four rentals of the Quantum can pay for one CP-E3. it makes sense to buy one instead of keep renting.
Recycle time was my main concern. I never missed a beat with the Quantum. The recyle time is almost unnoticeable. Appears the the CP-E3 is too except when used at full power. I suspect that the quantum would have some noticeable recycle time if used at full power too.
Thanks everyone!

i am confused, is the consensus to use TTL or ETTL?

It does look better cropped. i guess i was trying to force the fountain in to the picture.
now i have to play with photoshop to get rid of those people in the background. i'll play around with the patch tool.
here's another one with the fountain in it. how's this one? when including a fountain is it better to have it in the background versus having the couple right up on it?

Does anyone use the Canon Compact Battery Pack CP-E3 with their
Canon flash such as the 580 EX at weddings?
I usually rent a Quantum Battery pack to use with my 580EX from
Helix Camera, but I am thinking about purchasing one and the Canon
one cost less than the Quantum. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! The bottom line sounds like experimenting with different products is the way to go. I'll do just that. Where can I purchase the Lightsphere PJ. This seems to be very popular.
Does everyone pretty much use their 580 EX flash in ETTL mode when the diffusers and bouncers are mounted? When i have the omnibouce on I keep it in ETTL mode, and use +1/3 exposure compensation for indoor shots. For large group shots I take the omnibounce off, kick the flash over to manual mode, take a few test shots to get the flash power just right.

i shoot with a 20D, 580EX, flash bracket, and usually have the Canon
24-70L 2.8 mounted on my 20D. my flash strategy has been to use the
stofen omnibouce for pretty much all shots where I'm within 20 feet
of my subject, and I remove it when I'm beyond about 20 feet.
whether i'm indoors or outdoors, high or low ceiling, this is what i
do.
i'm just wondering what the most popular flash accessory for quality
of light is (ex. omnibouce, lumniquest softbox, etc), and for what
situations do you put it on or take it off?
thanks.
Is this a good picture?

All good feedback. Thanks.
Chris/Eric, eliminating the people and lights is the way to go. i'll do that.
Bruce, I actually like with the fountain included, but it also works without as you suggested. What I'm doing is revising my portfolio with new pictures and may just included both versions of it. but with the fountain is my favorite.
Steve/Dale/Mike, I realize now why I was doubting this photo and it's because I can't see enough of her. you're both right, she should have been on the other side. and yeah, her arms do look kinda big. she made a lot of "i look fat" comments when looking through the proof book. but she still loved the picts.
Mike, I plan to use that park again with the couple leaning next to the fountain in some shape or fashion.
Eric, excellent job with cloning! I don't have a lot of experience with cloning but I will try and duplicate that.
Jared, I agree. I usually ask folks before I remove moles and zits. Some people wanna keep that stuff for whatever reason.
Thanks again everyone!
