<p>I have a general question about print sizes.<br>
I own a Canon 30D and 50D.<br>
When I go to print photos a 4X6 is the only one that prints the "exact" WYSIWYG. A 5x7 and 8x10 cut off the top and bottom when they come off the printer kiosk.<br>
I need to print a large poster size and want to use <a href="http://www.mpix.com">www.mpix.com</a> to do so. However I don't know what size to use that would be equivelent to a 4x6 and give me the "full" WYSIWYG.</p>
<p>Any help would be much appreciated.<br>
Thanks!</p>

Thanks Zafar for your response. That makes plenty sense to me. I do have my own website, smugmug, where I could post them for everyone to purchase. Nice!
I'm just wondering about the contract...
Thanks!

I recently learned of a new night club opening in my area and went there to scope out the place last night. When I
walked in the door I knew from that point the place was going to make some jack. It had a ton of people, the right
music, and the perfect atmosphere.
Before leaving I asked the owner if they had a photographer who did their photos on the weekends. His response was
no. I'm thinking about asking him if he would mind if I came out next weekend and did some club pics while people
are there. Just random photo's of people dancing and the DJ while they are playing the music.
I have the gear to shoot it with. So that's not a problem. I've got a few pocket wizards I can use with my camera and
a 550ex speedlite. Figured I can just rock out the wizard's and hold the speedlite in on hand and the cam in the
other.
My question is how should I approach this? Do I tell the owner I'm doing the first night free and he can use the pics
as he likes? If he accepts and wants to hire me after seeing my work what would I charge for something like this? I
would like to start shooting there a few times each month but of course not for free.
If anyone already does this and can coach me on how you started I'd really appreciate it.
Oh, and btw my studio is growing by the month!!!
Thanks again!

Canon 70-200 2.8L IS, by far is my most used lens. Saving up for the 800mm. :P

I'm in NC. Anyonw know where the nearest Canon repair center is? I need to get the camera sent off asap.
Thanks!

I put the grip on my 30D and it worked fine on that body btw.
-
Took the grip off. Camera still fires when I touch the shutter halfway.
-
I will try removing the grip later on today after work. I will post the results later.
Thanks!

Well, I've found a work around to the problem. I set CF #4 to #1 AE Lock/AF
That may serve me for the duration of the camera's life.
-
And even with the lens off it does the same thing. I tried the firmware update, the same version, but that didn't help. Thought that may reset the camera.

Hello everyone. I just grabbed my 20D out of the bag and went to take a few photos with it when I noticed on the first
shot it fired when I pressed the shutter button halfway. It also does it on the battery grip as well. I just took about 100
photos to test it and every single one fired when I depressed the shutter button half way. The firmware is the current
2.0.3.
Can't seem to figuree out what is causing it. I've cleaned the contacts, tried different lenses, removed the batteries.
I'm wondering if I'm just overlooking something in the CF menu?
Thanks for any help.

Bob, you are right about the fatigue. I just shot my first 8 hour pageant with my 70-200 2.8IS on one shoulder and 17-40 on the other and my back was shot at the end of the ordeal. I'm a fairly big guy too. 6'3, 220 lbs. But I would not trade my lens for anything less because the versatility of this lens is indescribable. I have used this lens for so many different occasions and still it never dissapoints me. Sharp as a tack and takes a beating from walls and stair rails. I highly recommend this lens if it fits the type of photography you do.

p.s. so sorry I haven't been on here in forever. I've been so busy opening a
studio, FINALLY!

Thanks so much! That worked like a charm!

I'm more than likely getting the pro account there in the next week. If anyone
has a code they wouldn't mind me using I'd be most grateful!

Jackie,
Others have answered the question correctly. I would like to mention I use the Bees as well and when I first started with studio flash I thought I needed to shoot at 1/250 but with flash you can use a much slower speed. The speedlites, 550/580/430...so on, sync at 1/250 and studio strobes are ideal for 1/125 and slower. The aperture is what really matters. You'll have to play around with them to see the difference. I usually shoot indoors around f/8 and outside on sunny days at f/16. Always using 1/125.
Good luck and keep practicing! It's a whole lot of fun once you get the hang of it.

17-40 and the 70-200 would be a killer combo. I have both and they never come off my 20/30D combo.
Good luck.

Alien Bee's are great for what they do. I own a few heads myself and really like their reliability. Add the pocketwizards to trigger them with and you're in for a great photoshoot. I may one day upgrade to a more professional level light. For now the bee's meet all my expectations.

When I purchased my lens, the 2.8 IS, I was so glad I made the decision to go ahead with the "IS" version. This was the first time I had ever used "IS" in a lens. My first reaction upon looking through the viewfinder was nothing short of complete joy. The image literally froze before my eyes once I half pressed the shutter button. Awesome feature if you've never experienced it in real life. Plus the bokeh at 200mm and 2.8 is pretty amazing. Everything in the distance is nice and creamy and your subject is nice and sharp. Great lens all around. I will never part with mine.
I haven't used the f/4 versions so I can't comment on them.
Good luck in your decision. Just remember once you own the lens it is yours to keep. So get what you need the first time and never look back.

Dude, in the right hands this lens works flawlessly! I love the results I get from mine so much I'd never sell it. It's a definite keeper and the photos it produces are phenominal. I'm glad I saved up and made the purchase. Well worth the extra cost for the "IS".
Good luck in your decision.

I own the basic 10' stand and the 13' stand. I will say the 13' stand is way better than the 10'. It's almost day and night in size and build quality.
Hope this helps.

Thank you Mr. Atkins for your time.

Gotcha...lol. No but seriously, does anyone possible know when they may start
this year. I'm getting ready to purchase a large monetary amount of equipment
and wouldn't mind saving a few dollars if possible. I'm looking at the Canon EF
180mm f/3.5 L USM Macro, and Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM along with 2 new 30D
bodies.
Thanks!
