I have an ongoing project of imaging the moon on any and all clear evenings. I recently
discovered that on light to moderately cloudy nights, I can get some very interesting
effects by exposing for the moon's brightness.So...now I have two, ongoing projects!

Image captured at Bolsa Chica

Just wanted to share this image.

Shot from my porch in light-polluted Los Angeles.

This guy looked right at me as I started snapping photos. What an
awesome specimen, but it was really sad to see these beautiful
animals trapped in this artificial environment. On one hand, I feel
honored to have seen them (my first trip to a zoo since elementary
school), but on the other...I'll never patronize a zoo again.

Captured during a pit-stop off of Hwy 395 on the way to Mammoth
Mountain.

Every now and then I find and image that I overlooked! (From 2009!)

Thanks for your critiques! Yes, I was going for the surreal "painterly" effect (I know...I really don't like that word either, but it describes the effect). I realize now that I probably should have placed the image in the "Computer Alteration" category instead of "Fine Art", then my intentions would've been more obvious. The little white outline that appears around high contrast areas is really hard to remove, meaning, it can be done but it is very labor intensive. If I were entering it in a contest I'd definitely spend the time.

Wonderful image, Jordan. Your post processing skills shine!

I've been creating some new actions in Photoshop that consist of
various filters and settings. In this image, I've accented the late
afternoon light that was fleetingly striking the sandstone through
breaks in the clouds. (can be viewed larger)

Thanks for looking!

Excellent image, Monte! Those guys are so hard for me to capture. They either get over exposed or the bg goes black. You've got the perfect combination here. Well done.

The obligatory photo of the Mobius Arch. It was kind of cool knowing
that some of the most noted photographers in the world stood where
I was and snapped images of this.

The end of a rewarding photo session at Bolsa Chica.

This is superb! I love the composition. I have a simpler but similar image (http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7460150) that has always been my best seller. I hope this image is bringing you great fortune!

John,
You are and continue to be...my hero!

Very nice! Reminds me of Switzerland.

I've never seen this before. For about an hour, this great blue tried to
swallow a grebe. I wonder if it would have choked to death had it
managed the feat. I imagine the grebe was already dead when the
heron came along. A hawk was stationed just above, on a fence
waiting for the heron to fail. The hawk gave up and departed just
before the heron gave up and went after more suitable prey.

Thanks guys! Phil: I was on the roof of a 10 story building that is in the middle of the flight path to the north and south runways. It made 3 passes, one to the north (this one) and 2 to the south before landing. Pierre: You're right! I like this one better, too. The sun was on the side facing me while the other image the shadow side is facing me. We almost weren't ready for this angle because we only knew it would land on the south runway. And Radu: The pride I felt was in the ability of mankind to be able to even imaging that they could get these machines to do what they've done!

Wow!

A truly incredible and unique experience. And I had the perfect location!

I used a road-side pond to add some interest to what was an incredible
sunset. I had to clone out the litter that was on the water's edge...some
people just don't care about the environment!
