1. they are polite, feel a tad superficial, and in general incorporate elements that distract not bring together the composition. This one one stands out as a composition, it's got interesting references, and a promissing thrill of mystery. Another interesting one is this one . These two, very cold and very careful in composition, have a disitinctive mark that sets them apart from others. I would stick with that direction, it's interesting what you did there; and you could actually ask people to pose for you, once I got the rest of the frame working out for me. Did you see Clockwork Orange -- don't know why but i started thinking of this movie while looking at these two pics of yours I like.
 2. you shoot and arrange facts according to how you want them to be perceived -- i would have a problem with that as well but I would not call this photojournalism any longer; but if you shoot war, you get images of war and you pick the strongest images to show the war -- you want pics of US army happily eating porridge in Iraq?

Ellis is right, you need to look from different angles to get the whole picture and as long as a PJ is truthfull to him/herself, it's OK with me. well, then there are editors and financial pressures which i know nothing about, can only speculate.

But yes, I find Kratochvil's homage on the pages of VII Photo Agency rather distasteful. It's got that stinky air of propaganda verging on hysteria. I don't like the fact that it is shown on pages of a photo agency that showcases documentary and PJ work. The true images from Abu Ghraib were shot by US soldiers 'guarding' prisoners. Most of these 'photographers' are in jail now.

 3. want my advice? Go out tomorrow and do it again but don't hipshot half hearted shots. i don't sneak on people, i make it quiet obvious but as fast as I can and I move on. Still, cops were called on me twice -- I know what I did wrong (i looked like a sissy, took too much time composing a shot and didn't leave fast enough). But two bad experiences in 6 or seven years of street shooting ain't that bad -- most probably the worst is over for ya.
