1.
Brackets are useless IMO.
I suppose direct flash or bounce is more important when people shot with film and 400iso. was the max, but now with such high isos and even more flash power its cumbersome, annoying and looks intimidating to people around you.
Alot of guys I see still using flash brackets are old schoolers, that's just what they were believed to look "pro".

 2.
Nobody has asked so I'll do it, what AF modes are you shooting in? I use only main point AF and no expansion assist points, shooting weddings as well and I have no had terrible issues with low light auto focusing. I know the 5D2 is nowhere near the AF on the Mk3 when it comes to low light... but I make do with it quite well. I have also traded my mark3 for a 5d2 and have been very happy with the move.

 4.
Off topic but somewhat still relevant, I'm 34... had a classic M6, sold it for awhile... and bought back a M6TTL in chrome... theres just something about chrome cameras... but like I said... I'm 34 and still into biking, fixies and such... video games... etc. I do think the younger leica shooters don't really stumble upon ranger finders until a later age though... and late 20s early 30s sounds about right!

 5.
If you get another 2nd body, why not pick up a 100mm f2? It's small and light and will ease you into the direction of telephoto lenses. I have made do with 100mm fixed lenses for my telephotos for entire weddings, because it's really horrible to buy something like a 70-200IS lens if you dont think you are going to be that much of a dedicated telephoto shooter.

 6.
Hey guys.
Just wanted to know if there are wedding photographers here presently shooting for commercial wedding outfits. That is shooters who dont own their own wedding company, but shoot for studios.
I have 3 years of shooting weddings, I am probably just pass the 50 wedding mark for total weddings shot. Yet I have no desire to go out of my own and run a company of my own. I enjoy photographing weddings and being in the midst of things... and wedding photography is one of those things that if you do well, you are personally satisfying not just a client (ie. product with no personal sentiments), you are essentially highlighting someones life during a very special time.
I just recently completed grad school (photo related), and although much of my interest is in documentary work... weddings do pay the bills, and while there are obviously benefits to not having your own company, and the work is great financially. I still wish to pursue other photography goals, so weddings are not a full-time commitment I am currently interested in.
I am curious if for most of you in this situation, it is a means to eventually go into your own startup. Your plus and minuses, and future goals.
Just wanted to know if there are those out there working for studios, what your experiences have been and would you have it any other way.
cheers

 7.
I shoot 2 bodies as well (canon), my favorite setup is 24-70 and a 50mm. If you have 2 bodies you can experiment with a zoom + prime combo and get a sense of when to use a prime. I also use a 28 and 100 prime as well... depending on lighting and how quick the working conditions are... but I rarely use 2 zooms as they get a bit heavy and slow to use.

 8.
Lazy? Maybe... maybe part of it is differentiating images from digital, I am not really sure.

I do agree grain is as much of the film as noise on digital... which are factors of equipment / media.

I do agree dust and scratches on prints are a no no, but as a web image... I am kind of striking out against all the new clean cut images out there...
Not that these are all valid points for myself, but I do like where this conversation is going.
9.
Anyone feeling like leaving grain / dust / scratches in their neg scans these days?

Lately I've been leaning towards having that film look... much like the traditional darkroom printers who printed full frame to prove the cropping...
Just a thought.

http://kennethchou.ca/index.php?/series/lg-toronto-fashion-week/

 10.
I am shooting a 5D and 5D Mark II, is there a way to change the file name on the 5D Mark II? I hate the idea of having the files numbers overlap when I dump the files into a folder. Or am I just sh*t out of luck?

cheers
