Well, no luck on the 4x5 but my sister-in-law nailed me 100 rolls of the 120 GP3 for 6 RMB a roll! That's 88 cents US a
roll! Father-in-law just came back and brought it all to me. 09/2012 expiration too. Now if I can only figure out how to get
this film to lay flatter....
-

Thanks, well aware of the eBay auctions. Thing is those GP3 rolls are less than $1 each bought in Beijing. My wife got 50 rolls of it for me last time she was there.....
Thanks though....

I used to live in China from 1996 to 2001 but know that place has changed greatly in the years since. Am looking for two particular films that are made in China and am hoping someone who lives there knows a good place that carries them. My sister-in-law already tried the shops out at Wukesong with no luck, and the "pro" place behind the book store just north of the west end of Longfu shopping alley had none either. Some people even said both these film may not be being made any more but I remain hopeful that there's stock still left to buy even if that's true.
These are the two films I'm looking for:
1. Shanghai GP3 in 120 rolls (black boxes with blue lettering)
and
2. ERA 4x5 PAN ISO 100
Thanks!

Going to be there this afternoon, any last minute ideas for the north Phoenix area?
-

Looks like I'll be up in the area near where 17 and 101 intersect, the north. Is Cave Buttes and that area worth checking out?

-

Thanks. I like shooting landscapes, urban scapes (though not thinking I'll do that in Phoenix).
Only got a few hours free. I shoot b&w with my Rolleiflex. Suggestions?
-

Adam, I do use his software, and he can see that on those photos posted on Flickr.

-

>>>>I think this is pretty funny, this thread has most likely given them as much free advertising as the photos would have been worth to them.

Probably at least balanced out by exposing them for the people they are and the ones who will now not buy from them for that very reason.

-

Ha! Frank, I was writing my last post exactly when you were. Agreed.

-

David, I understand. But I have enough experience back in my early days of giving away photos for free promotion to know that it rarely turns into much. Frankly it devalues what you feel your work is worth to allow a for-profit business, and supposedly one quite successful in selling their product, to use my photos to market such for free. Sure, I'm flattered but that does not pay my bills. Just as someone asking them for a free copy of their software "because it's so awesome and I'll tell all my friends about it". What do you think their answer would be?
Michael, I think, other than my little jab about using money to pay for their product, that the rest of my reply was along those lines....
Frank, your wife has a great suggestion!

-

And supposedly this is software is "The most sold camera app in Japan". So they make huge money, but expect me to work for free.

I just got this email from a software developer for the iPhone:
You've been sent a Flickr Mail from Yurilulu:
:: Can we use your photos for our app site on Apple iTune
store?
Hi,Richard
I am Yuri from 'Art and Mobile' a company that programed
iphone
application like Toy Camera, Tilt Shift Generator, Quad
Camera.
I found your photo on the flicker's website. I really love
your photos. Especially this three.
Along Baseline Road,

Really beautiful...
Did you by chance use our iphone applications' Toy Camera'
to take your photos?
If you did, may we ask you for permission to use your
photographs(the highest resolution version you have.) for
our showcase on our website, our app page on itune store, or
other promotional material?
Unfortunately we are unable to pay a fee for usage, however
we would give full credit. We can also credit your website
depend on materials.
Please let me know.
Best Regards,
Yuri
I replied as follows:
Hi Yuri,

Thanks for your nice comments on my photos, and yes all were made using your software (which I used money to buy), as mentioned in the comments and tags section of those photos in Flickr.

As for permission to use my photos, I will allow it but certainly not for free for you to use to sell, promote and showcase your for-profit business. If you would like to discuss reasonable rates for such usage please let me know. Otherwise, no you may not use my photos.

He wants ME to provide my photos for FREE for his PROFIT business. The gall.

>>>>>>I have and use both a Rolleiflex model T, with Carl Zeiss taking lens, and the Rolleicord Vb, with the Schneider lens......The Rolleicord won.
Thanks for posting your results but frankly with cameras that old it's more than likely your particular samples (and their individual care vs. each other over the years) that showed which was best, not one lens formula or type over the other.

-
Thanks Joseph! Just what I was looking for. I read the same way you do.
-
The rest of this is supposed to say:
".....but was unable to find a definitive answer. Has anyone used any of the newer 1GB, 2GB or even 4GB memory sticks with their Sony F717 or know a source that confirms they can be used?"
Thanks,
Richard
-

I know when this camera first came out there were no memory sticks larger than 128MB. I have successfully used
a 256MB and 512MB sticks with my F717 but want to get some larger ones. I searched here and online
-
I may have downloaded the manual and have it on my hard drive at home. Will try to check before this weekend and let you know.
-
Scott, I used to feel the same and actually used to pooh-pooh people with Holgas saying why waste time "ruining" a neg when you can take a "perfect neg", keep it as perfect as you want or "ruin" it all you want in PS? Both choices.

Then I got a Holga, then I got a Lensbaby. A large part of the fun and creativity is not always knowing what you get and getting results and effects you may not have dreamed, though of, or even considered or knew how to do. I've gotten some great shots with my Holgas and Lensbaby that I never would have thought of to create (let alone taken the time to do it----I spent enough time at my computer at my job). I love using them both and will never sell either.

Jonathan, and all that is better than a Rolleicord bought for $50-75 and then a CLA for $100 how??
I still do not get it....a fully CLA'd Rolleicord or even a Minolta Autocord or Yashicamat kicks such total butt over the Seagulls it's not even funny.
I do not question the Seagull's abilities. I've used many. But given the choice and approximately the same price I'd go Rollei, Minolta or Yashica every time....

I just got a hold of one of these. Actually was sent to me free (long story). The shutter fires without any film in it as long as I turn the advance knob and re-set the shutter each time. Does that mean mines broken?
-
>>>>I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that film will be around for awhile, even in '08.
No, no, impossible! 5-6 years ago on this very site people were saying film would be completely gone within 5 years! Or at least almost impossible to find!
So, should be any time now....
-
No, just figured
I'll ask again in
'10....and
'12.....and
'14.....and so
on.....
Darn it! I paid
thousands for my
DSLR! Why won't
film go away?

Will Kodak deep 6 B&W Film in '08??
