  1. Yes, I must agree brothers wrote that geeting a 50-60s Janpan made camera can be better than Retina. However, I like Germen optics more than the Japanese at pre and postwar period (1950 and before). Also , the mechanical design of the cameras is my favor and so it becomes my first choice . I also think that it would be better to buy a Leitz II (/III) or others if the interchangeability is important.

I'm now bidding a Rectina IIc (w/case) from a French seller in ebay. His camera look great and so I place my bid at about Euro $30 and set to Euro $ 35 as the maximun. Is it too much? Also, for a IIIc that the meter doesn't work (not that French seller's), should the cost be less than US$30?

My pcise range of a rectina camera is not more that HKD$ 750 (inc. shipping cost, what condition of a retina can I get?

  2. I live in Hong Kong, Retina camera is really a rare camera due to not many people interested with it. Some shops may have one or two but their price is too high and irreasonable (That's a true and strange fact in Hong Kong). So, I really can't get the information that I want.

Inside my heart, I want to begin form a low cose range finder camera. With changeable lens would be the best, although I may be not goning to use it. Also, I like the "door" style of IIa more than IIc, but the IIc 's quality is higher that IIa.

That is the reason which make me have no decision yet.

  3. I have posted a question about buying a classic camera before. and I decided to

try 35mm owing to it is light and small. My godfather let me tried his Retina I

and I find this small camera is more attractive than Vitessa. So, I decided to

    buy a Retina.

I searched the old post, and want to try Rectina II series. (I have thought

about IIIc but I don't think I need that light meter.) I want to try IIa or

IIc. But I don't know which one should I choose. Can any brother give me some

advice? Also, I really don't know its price, since some collectors can brought

it US$ 1.00 and some can be US$70 or more!

And, is it difficult to find C lens for IIc in nowadays?

  4. To paul Ron:

I am in Hong Kong, finding a rb67. I have visited second-hand camera shops and find that the rb67 price is ... almost HKD$ 4000 for a body w/ film back only!!(And those like found in flead market, they also need HKD$ 2700, being used a lot )

For the lens, the shopkeepers don't really know much about C/nonC/KL Lens. What they know are money only...it is the reason that I need to post a question here.

It is really useless to ask any questions anout cameras in Hong Kong, except spending large amount of money to buy a camera, that can be very cheap in ebay, or other countries.

    About B&W :

In my oponion, can anyone post a B&W which taken by a Zeiss Lens and a Mamiya lens, so that we can discuss?

But for colour prints, I must say, I like Mamiya more than Zeiss Planar. I used a Rolleiflex with Planar before, and I must agree that the contrast, sharpness is very high, but when compare with the object, it just like they come from different world. The one taken by Planar is "too much" , i.e. too many not wanted and not needed details, contrast and sharpness. When I compare with my friend's rz67, his flower is smooth, soft, like "real".

  5. I am going to but a Mamiya Rb 67 pro-s, but I don't know what type of Mamiya 67

lens can be used. Also, I found some lens called C, non-C and KL , what is

their differences? And, what kind of lens is used in pro-sd? can they be also

    used in pro-s system?

And can anyone tell me which place that I should check carefully when I

    choosing a second hand rb67 pro-s?

    THankyou.

  6. Thank you for your ideas. But I am not a US resident. Could Bogen really help me?

Also, I want to know where I can find the replacement of Mallory PX 13 batteries. I need this batteries because I can't find them. I kwon it is not going to be made anymore, but can anyone tell me which type of button battery can be used to replace PX13?

Some people tell me that I can use LR44, is that true?

  7. i hav tried ikonta , the pre-war one, but i don't really it. it is because the shutter release button is in the front.

if i wan a fold camera, i would choose Voigtlander bessa ii( the heliar one is expensive, the one with colour skopar is difficult to find)

i wantto try vitessa or prominent becuse it has vey good lens and the operation , design are vey attractive, which the others can not provide.however, i love using medium more, therefore i don't know should i buy a camera that can use 2 different format of film or buy 2 cameras.

  8. I want to buy a clasic camera from eBay but I need some advice...because I'm

lost in it. I don't know wheather I should buy a Rolleiflex : 3.5 type or

Automat or Voigtlander : Prominent( I/II ) or Vitessa (not T type)or the

    others.

The fold cameras are light, but the operation seems not very attracive...and

they have too many types that I don't know which one is good.

Please help me with your advice...

  9. I brought a Rolleiflex 'old' standard (f/3.8) last week and then I

found that the image isn't clear when I focus to infinity.

The plate does not touch the body when it is set at "infinity" (But

they are in parallel) and the plate keep moving further away from

normal ( I mean, it creat a line between the body and the plate)

when I set to closest distant.

I've opened it before and I've no idea how to fix it....

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? And post some photos about

    how to fix it?

(My english is very weak... sorry)
