  1. The 3800 makes the same size as the 4800 but only sheet fed. The head is a new style and has better dot size. It also has 9 cartriges so that youy can change from glossy to matt on the fly. The others you have to go through an expensive purge cycle. Both the 3800 and 4800 are 17" wide. the 3800 wil let you print up to 37" and the 4800 will go to 50' with the right RIP. Just starting out I recommend the 3800. It will fill most of your needs unless you need wider prints.
  2. The "VisibleDust" Co. the makers of the Artic Butterfly, have a tool kit that has small swabs made for the corners. A product that I just got turned on to is called "Dust-Aid". They meak these little tapes that pick up the dust off the sensor. They work very quickly to my surprise. B&H carrys them.
  3. The meter is reading the ambient light as if you are not using a flash. When the flash is then used, the TTL circuitry then takes over giving you the correct exposure as the flash sees it.
  4. Yeah, I'm at my printers now and see what you did. Why would you want to delete from the folder file? Delete ONLY from the "QUE" and there it is called "Clear Que" or "Remove from Que" if you need to remove that image only. I never seen the need to right click on a thumbnail so I didn't know that images could be deleted that way. There are a lot of very neat functions in Qimage that I don't really use since I use it primarily for the interpolation program and setting up print packages. The color adjustment, levels and curves etc. are undestructive in nature meaning that if you adjustment doesn't work out you can always go back to the original. These adjustments are permanate in PS BTW. I'm sorry you had this misfortune, but Qimage is a great program with even greater tech support.
  5. The Kodak 1400 is a fast turn around machine. Makes a print in about 45 seconds. Great for on location work. Each 8x14" or 8x12" package will cost about $1.90 depending on where you get your supplies. I find that DTGWeb is a great supplier with good support. I use Qimage with mine to set up mixed packages. I can run two printers on location and make about 50 prints in about 30 minutes using Qimage. Don't know about the R800 except I do use a 3800, 4800 and 9600. They aren't fast so wouldn't be good location printers. Life of the print with the 1400 is supposed to be about 70 years. Color is good once you tweek in your camera's color fidelity.
