Current 50 Summicron and the 50 Summicron tab version both aren't snappy either.

Paul. I don't think yours is defected. My 35/1.4 ASPH lux feels the same as yours compare to other lenses that I own. If I remember correctly, there are a couple posts in this forum not too long ago about the 35 ASPH. lux aperture ring.

I'm with Mark, the 1Ds II can be sold at least for $3,500.00

Canon, Irvine doesn't stock that part. I already asked them last time I visited there.

It's a easy DIY job.You can order direct from Canon part dept. to order a flash shoe call 732-521-7230. Part # CA1-6504-040 for about a little more than $6.00 each plus shipping from NJ. Just ply the flat coverplate by X-acto knife by the edge around the main electrical contact then careful use another small flat head driver slip it out of the place as you do with the flash, Now you can see 4 Phillip screws underneath, un-screw those screws and take your old shoe out then replace it with a new one, slip the cover in place and you're done.Good luck.

The easiest and probably the cheapest way is converting your electronic cable release to conventional mechanical cable release by using Canon cable release adapter T3 type if your camera using T3 socket or newer Canon N3 type by adding Canon Remote switch adapter RA-N3.Good luck.
