  1. Tom . most of us aren't pro's so can take all the time we want but no pressure except for what we put on ourselfs. I may buy both SL2 and a 6.2 and see which one is a better fit. They both seem like great cameras,
  2. I'll use it mostly for bird photography. We live in Northern Maryland on the Little Gunpowder River. Flows just at the end of our back yard. I saw a Bald Eagle flying not twenty feet over the river the other day. When I was in my early 20's, I worked at both the Baltimore Zoo and the Crandon Park Zoo on Key Biscayne in Miami in their bird departments, but i majored in photography at The Maryland Institute of Art.
  3. I'm thinking of buying an Leica SLR and would like to get some opinions on

which would be the better choice the R6.2 or the SL2. I found a Black mint Sl2

with box strap and instruction book on line for $1,400.00, is that a good

price for this camera. I'm now shooting with an MP and 35 and 50mm Summicron

    and a 90 Elmarit-M. thanks

  4. Ah, need and want. Not really so difficult to seperate the two. You can never control how others spend their money but beyond a couple of bodies and the lenses that you actually use, the rest is just excess. Usually taking up to much of ones time ,energy and resourses that could better be used elsewhere. Here in the U.S.if one is good two must be better. Just look at most peoples weight that tells you about all you need to know.
  5. I just posted this question but it disappeared. I just purchased a used but

mint 90mm Elmarit to use with my .85 MP. The built in hood is loose, it

wobbles , what I'd like to know is if this is normal and if not is there a way

to tighten it up a bit so that it slides smoothly??

  6. I have a chrome .85 Leica MP and would like to add a R6.2 to my kit for longer

lenses. My question is; were they produced in chrome as well as Black up to

the end of production? Would anyone know what the last production serial

    numbers were?

    thanks

  7. I may be a step closer to my goal. The bags that Robert White has listed are in the new fabric FibreNyte but I dicovered that the U.K. distributor has a 225 in Nytex and I'm trying to get them to sell it to me through Robert White as they cannot sell outside of the U.S. I'm told that the Nytex was discontinued because people did not like it and it did not sell well. I had a 335 in the Stone Nytex and I loved it.
  8. Thanks, I've called all over this morning and no one has one. There is a new 225 Stone Nytex on ebay U.K. but they don't ship to the U.S. I emailed Robert White maybe he has some new old stock. Anyone out there have one for sale I'll be glad to take it off your hands for a fair price.:-)
  9. I was ready to order a Billingham 225 in Nytex for my Leica kit ,when I found

that this material is discontinued. It's been replaced by a new synthetic

called FibreNyte. Has anyone purchased a Billingham in this material and what

are your impressions compared to the Nytex. Their site hasn't been updated to

show or describe this fabric.Billinham emailed that the Nytex was not vert

popular but I had a 335 that was stolen and liked it very much.

    Thanks

  10. My suggestion would be an classic M6 with the .85 finder. Has the built in meter, the finder is as close as you going to get to the M3.It has very usable frames for the 35-135mm lenses, unless you wear glasses. The larger finder will allow you to focus the faster lenses you mentioned. Anything wider than a 28 and you're going to have to use an accessorie view finder anyway.Seems to me to cover all your needs.
  11. Being a cabinet/furniture maker by trade, i don't think your analogy is a very good one. I think the difference between using a Leica M as apposed to using a medium format or larger camera would be more like say, using a trim hammer to frame a house. It may not be my first choice but if was what I had and liked to use, i'll bet that I could get pretty good at it...... and if the questioned is directed at me,if the photo's above look this good on a computer screen, just think how good the real thing must look. Meaning no offence to anyone, there are always people who want to tell you what you can't do, and when asking advice they are usually more of them than the people that say "you can do". I know guys that turn out wooden boxes called kitchen cabinets on $20,0000.00 table saws and i know others with whole shops that cost far less than that table saw that turn out works of art in wood.If you know your tools, you can do anything you want to do.Period
