i was switching a battery out with a freshly-charged battery and discovered,

when i switched it, that nothing would work on it. as if no power whatsoever

was going to the camera--not even the lcd.

 

i have tested it with fully-charged batteries but it will not turn on.

 

please help!

thanks so much for your answers. that "dragging the shutter" (http://www.planetneil.com/faq/dragging-the-shutter.html) article really made all the difference in the world. everyone i took pics of would have been floating in the black of space if i didn't take the advice of this article.

i have a canon digital rebel, a 550ex bounce flash (that can only be mounted

on the camera at this time), and a stoffen omnibounce diffuser. in a tall,

theater-like room, what would be your ideal settings to cover this social

event?

 

should i have to rely on the omnibounce? what iso would be safe to use?

i would like to know how documentary photographers approach a

person, group, or orginization about documenting them. how do i

convey that i am earnest can be trusted--not just some photographer

off the street? what do they get out of it? thanks for your

insight.
