    The Aurora borealis

          2

This is my first attempt at capturing the Aurora borealis from

Akureyri, Iceland. I would appreciate a critique so I can be better

prepared for the next clear and cold evening that happens to overlap a

    geomagnetic storm. Thank you!

You have picked a great subject matter. My only gripe is that it feels a little under exposed. Otherwise, the composition is very good and the focus is sharp.

Wonderful colors and the feel you have given the water by using a longish exposure creates a very calming atmosphere. You have done a great job with your ultra-wide lens. Great work! 7/6

This is a MUCH better crop; the composition is much stronger. I was happy to see this again while I was flipping through the top photos from the past few days. I?d have to give this a 6/5.5.

Great work Rajiv! I was flipping through your portfolio. You have some wonderful shots. I?ll be sure to take a peak every so often. Have a wonderful day!

The colours in this photograph are absolutely wonderful! I think the compositionis a little lacking though; a lot of the frame is sky. I think this shot might be more effective if you focused on the very intersting tree in the lower right while maintaining some of the vibrant colours in the sky.
  1. I like the composition of the pedals. It would be nice if the blues were a little more saturated, but thats nature for ya. The only 'problem' I see is some sort of distracting out of focus element in the backgroun on the left. Otherwise, great work!

Another wonderful caputure! I?m quite jealous. I?ve had 3 clear nights (two of which were partly cloudy) this month here in Akureyri to capture the auroras. The star field in the background is spectacular as is the random shooting star. Wonderful composition and colour. I can?t wait to see what you capture next LᲵs!

    M 42

It's hard to critique nature's splendor. You have done wonderful job of capturing it. Of all the nebulae I have seen, M-42 is amoung the most beautiful.
  2. This is a great shot. The human element is a nice touch in the bottom left corner. I think you might have left auto white balance on. A program called "autostich" could probably easily compensate for this. In the past it has helped me recover from the same mistake (whoops). It's a really easy program to use (and free). You can download it at: http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html

    Thanks for sharing!

  3. I really enoy this shot. You do a wonderful job of capturing the emotion of the landscape. Wonderful composition and great use of the EFS 18-55. This is something I would definately hang on my wall.

    MIRRORED SKY

I really enjoy this picture. The only gripe I have with the composition is that the horizon doesn't seem to be level. I often found this to be a problem when hand holding so I bought a bubble level that slips into the hot shoe; it's great for composing panoramics. Regardless, you grabbed a great shot!

The subject matter isnt the most original but how you have it presented is just amazing. The amount of detail and the angle of the lighting is superb. The composition, while good, might be a bit stronger if it wasnt as centered but hey, it's still a great shot! Spectacular work!

    Weeds

What I love about this image is that these "weeds" are everywhere and therefore often overlooked. You have done a wonderful job of making the "mundane" rather intresting.
