tmhutchins 0 Posted May 19, 2006 Was wondering how long you can open the shutter before you begin to get the first signs of Star Trails. You had your shutter open for 30 seconds and I can't see any trails, that's interesting. It's a very nice landscape shot. Tim H Link to comment
seanscullyphotography 0 Posted May 19, 2006 I really enoy this shot. You do a wonderful job of capturing the emotion of the landscape. Wonderful composition and great use of the EFS 18-55. This is something I would definately hang on my wall. Link to comment
stevespencer 0 Posted May 19, 2006 Very nice result. My father would have loved this. He was a night sky watcher. -s Link to comment
mike_grindstaff1 0 Posted May 19, 2006 @Tim Hutchins...There is a blur of the stars from the motion of them...but what it amazing to me is that the clouds were close enough to stitch the images as easily as I was able to...I mean it was like 5 minutes from the first image until i took the last one and the cloud line still looks realistic...I was so happy when I got into the car and looked at preview on the camera and saw the color that I was returning...the moon is off to the right of the image, but there were power lines in the way else I would have kept shooting...If I would have known how good this was going to have turned out I would have bushwhacked through the bushes until the power lines were out of view so i could have gotten the moon in the image....hindsight is 20/20 I suppose...I plan to watch the weather and moonphase and try to get some more night images like this one for sure... treeffe 0 Posted May 19, 2006 This is an image of great impact. getting both light on the land and thos sparkling stars is not easy. That night should be very clear and calm. Excellent job. Regards -Fabio- Link to comment
newfocus 0 Posted May 19, 2006 Hi Michael, Good to see you're experimenting with some low light stuff! Great result. Good light in particular. John. Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted May 19, 2006 Very nice shot, Michael. Better viewed large. I have also the experience that with 30 seconds you don't get star trails yet. With two minutes yes. The stiching is seamless, good work. Happy shooting. Peter Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted May 20, 2006 This is an excellent nightshot, the star-spangled sky with the clouds formation is just breathtaking. I will have to try that out, 30 sec. Just curious: a mosaic of 4x2 ? Very good stitch job, however I would expect kind of large format detail here, this is missing in the downsized version. Link to comment
mike_grindstaff1 0 Posted May 20, 2006 its just 8 images across and I am unhappy with the detail as well...it was so dark...im not certain if it was in focus...lol...the cheapo lens I am using doesn't have the distances on the barrell, and it was too dark to see...while im happy with this...i want to continue this type of work.
