1.
Thanks guys,
I'm downloading Premiere Elements now I'll try the trial for a while then maybe the pro trial to see if it's worth the extra $600 but as with PS I'm sure Elements will fall way short of the mark.
Sony.... I'll check it out later.
I'm sure Final Cut is a wonderful piece of soft but I'm still rocken a PC and probably will be for a while.
As for Microphones I'm going to look into them, seems there's a lot to learn on that subject as well.
This video stuff is going to be interesting, If I only have the time to learn it.
2.
I've gotten myself this new D300s and I'm wanting to play around with video now.I have two questions.

1.What software are you guys using? and/or What is a good (cheep) video/audio software to use.

2. What external microphones are you guys using for outdoor, nature, wildlife. Stereo?

Thanks for your input.

 3.
If there is more on the inside in the workings or if what you see works lose and gets down in there it will act like sandpaper........ I bet Nikon would like to clean that up for you or replace it, but sense it is new B&H should swap it out. Thats what I would want.

 4.
Even though my old 300 2.8 Tamron focuses quite well (after an upgrade) even with a 2X attached I still find I manually focus rather a lot, sometimes it just seams quicker or easier than changing the focus point in camera when recomposing on a busy bird. If I found a Nikon 500 F4 at a good price I doubt I would hesitate as long as the metering worked correctly. Now a few more years of my eyes changing the way they focus may change my mind........

Hi folks,
I have a nikon PB6 that we use on rare occasions. What is the best way to store it? Closed tight, closed loose, open, if closed tight should a powder or something be applied?
I ask because my wife got it out the other day and the folds were ever so slightly stuck together they are in verry good condition and I'd like to keep them that way.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Mike

 7.
Wow when you go hunting on E-Bad there are a lot of different ones to chose from aren't there?
I imagen most or all are made in china to so-so standards some will work some not so much. I've looked at that stuff too, got some of it despite knowing what it will be, played with it seen that I would use a gadget like that then bought Nikon.
Bear in mind the one you see there is $100+ in US dollars.
I'm gonna watch this one to see what others think too.

 8.
Almost the same thing happened to my Fuji S1 several years ago, only I knocked it over. I repaired the lens myself Tameron sold me the parts. But about a hundred shots or so later the camera died:( I never did find out exactly why, it wasn't worth repairing, at the time it seamed better to use that money toward another camera. Now your D300 is another matter all together I'd send it straight to Nikon in New York those guys just done a great job repairing mine.

 9.
I played with this site a while back you may try it.
http://tineye.com/
They do a reverse image lookup or some sutch. I don't know if it can use meta data or not but hope this helps to catch the theif.

Where was the camera stolen? Have you checked the local Pawn shops etc.? I know the police usualy have their hands full.

Good Luck in your quest!
10.
What do you guys suggest for an old G4 MAC running OS 10.4 with a 1.2 Gig processor and I believe it will only take 2 Gigs of ram. This is my first MAC I bought it used and know more now than I did then. I have installed an extra hard drive the pictures are on it Lightroom 2.2 on the main one and it is sllllooooowwww as molasses. So what was used on these at the time? Or would be good now?

Thanks,
Mike

 11.
I do believe after all that I would use a well known like EverReady or Duracell, the ones that have the :we will repair or replace whatever they mess up" warranty, or whatever Nikon suggests at least for a while.
I use NiMH of different brands in my SB-800 and the lesser ones to, the flashes recycle faster with them, if that don't burn up the flashes I don't know why standard batteries would.
Either way I believe I would keep every set I ran through it for a while, just for kicks and giggles.

 12.
OK Fellas I'm a tightwad and I'll be the first to admit it I would more than likely croak if I had to give 2 or 300 bucks for glasses. I wear them from the time I get up till I go to bed and I'm ruff on them they get scratched in no time, knocked off or taken off and stepped on, or some other disaster.
So I get mine three or for pair at the time from Zenni Optical www.zennioptical.com they start at $8.00 a pair. this isn't a plug, I'm not connected with them in any way other than as a customer, yes the glasses do come from China so they probably have lead or something else that will do me great harm in or on them but then so does everything else. The prescription has always been accurate as long as I put it in the form right.
I just feel that what I save on glasses I can spend on camera stuff for my wife.
Just my 2 cents.

 13.
Richard,
Those guys aren't kidding Nikons CLS is prety cool. I have looked at the Strobist stuff got the DVD's, played with the way they do it, got those silly little flash triggers from china that work when they want to, I still enjoy messing with that stuff. I'm not Knocking Strobist or the guy that puts it on, but that CLS is great, just think you don't have to move from your camera to adjust your flash you do it in camera. I use a D300 but I think the D90 will do this as well (correct me if I'm wrong fellas) with the pop up flash. I've only played with mine a little bit so far but man that was neet.

Give it a try.
Mike

PS. if you don't like it I'll trade you an old flash that you can adjust for your SB 600 ;) Ha Ha.

I'd bet it has been wet, I drowned 3 in a creek a while back one of them done similar to that after it dried out. Inside the barrel there are some very large threads that were supposed to have a very light grease on them, now it's on the glass inside. I would suspect if one is squealing like that it is putting quite a strain on the focusing gears in both the lens and camera, depending on the price of a replacement, versus shipping and repairs, and downtime, if it were mine I'd probably try to lube it myself, but then I've always been a glutton for punishment.
There are a lot of very tiny screws with various size drivers needed to get into one that deep and putting it back together can be a real bear, then getting the autofocus stuff and indicators lined up is a whole other problem not to mention what kind of grease are you supposed to use.........
Man those lens repair techs really earn their pay I think I'll send mine to one of them next time.

Just my thoughts,
15.
Do you remember many many years ago in a galaxy not so far from here Sony had a digital camera I think it was about 3 mega pixels or so it used a floppy disk for storage. I wanted one of those but just didn't want to (waist) the money on it.
Well I saw one the other day at a junk store for $3, I was tempted if it had a charger with it I might have gotten it, but alas I didn't. That's OK I still have lots of junk around here to weigh down my paper.
Mike

 16.
It is amazing how much water that stuff will absorb,if you wrap a desiccant pack in paper towels and put it in a microwave you can see the results. That's how I dry mine, nuker then frig then nuker then frig.
But this little tool you speak of looks a lot more handy you would just need a tight space to close your gear up in.
