Similar set up to mine.
Depends on the location, size of the room and lighting etc.
Did a wedding recently (June) with my brand new Speedite 580EX Testing at the wedding I
used automatic flash with the speedite and then FEC +2/3. With FEC the images were very
clear and much improved.

I too would be licking my chops to see, feel and shoot with the 5D, but having bought the
20D recently and getting some great photos out of it, I'll be sticking to the 20D for a good
while yet.

I prefer the software to make Black and White, such as Photoshop CS, though my camera the
Eos 20D does shoot in black and white. I rarely use this feature, only when I want to print
Directly from the compact flash card.
I'm not sure though If an adjustment can be made on the EOS 300D camera.

Does seem to be an ISO setting to me as suggested. My image's shot at 100 ISO and 400 ISO
are very different in image resolution.
