Well I have decided to take up this advice, and the above e-mail that I received, I bounced it yesterday.
It was an alias e-mail and have deleted it, and now I have another alias e-mail in position.
-
Thanks Guy's, you truly are a great help.
This is my very first scam e-mail for my photography business, though I have received other types of scam, mainly about
sad stories but not for my photography business.
Your suggestions are good. I'm going to reply; to only pay me what is required and that I'm not able to assist in any
transaction. And just see what happens. I will then end it there, then I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks everyone

I received an e-mail from a guy who lives in Malaysia requesting for a photographer for his wedding in October in the UK, I live in the
UK, the first couple of e-mails look at sound very genuine.
I agreed to a date and the costs. I then received this e-mail from him and it’s got the bells ringing for me a little and wonder if it’s
legitimate or just a scam?
This is the latest e-mail I received and wonder if anyone here had similar
e-mails and that you consider them a scam or genuine;

What conserned me was, the part that says;
As soon as this is done,I will email you the publisher's given account details where the rest of the money will be transfered to.
We hope we can put our trust on You as we will want you to have your self paid for your services charge and help us make a transfer of
the rest to the publisher's given bank account.
Why would I be interested in a publishers account details and help him make a transfer of the rest of the money to their account.
What do you think?

Thanks for looking and for your comments.
To David, regarding the Buttonaire I too always request the buttonaire is in the right spot.
On this occasion it was not possible, for the tuxedos were hired one for the Groom and Best-
man and they were not allowed to pin, stick or anything else on the lapels shiny reflective
material. You will notice that both the best man and Groom are in tuxedos and the buttonaire
is not on lapel for that simple reason.

About a month I mentioned that I will be photographing a bride dressed in Red and had some
good advice and for me not to worry.
The wedding took place last Saturday and it turned out ok. There was rain at first but
brightened up later. The images have come out quite well and her being dressed in red
wasn't a problem as I thought it would be. A lot of the images are straight from the camera
while some have had a little Photoshop for cropping etc.
If you care to look at my portfolio, the photos are in the folder "Wedding: Red Bride".
Thanks for your advice.
-
Just finished photographing the Bride in red and here is one shot of the bride in red.
I will upload a few more when I get the time.
-
You beat me by one day. Mine arrived on Thursday!
-
A good tip David, I didn't think of it.

I have just bought the Canon 5D along with the 24-105L lens last week. It's a great combination to start off. I haven't used another lens as yet.

I use iPhoto and also CS 2.
There is a limit that you can see in iPhoto for it only has a slide bar for zooming in and out.
On a 17-inch monitor you can zoom into about 33 %.
In Photoshop you can magnify the pixels up to 1600% on a 17 screen.
On my screen, looking at both images, one in iPhoto and the other in Photoshop at 33% there
is no difference.
-
You can download into iphoto without Canon software.
iphoto will download Jpeg and even Raw images.
To manipulate raw images though, you need something better for post processing. Canons
DDP is very good.
-
Look at this link, the tutorials tell you all about Aperture.
-
I use Aperture and Adobe Photoshop CS 2.
Edward is right when he says; They are different horses for different courses.
Folk got mixed up when Aperture was released, they thought it was on the same course as
Photoshop. Two different applications.
Professional photographers in the Mac world use Aperture not just for RAW manipulation
and post processing but as a powerful management tool, inlcuding for output in print,
books PDF and albums.
I use both applications hand in hand and they work a treat together.

A good story Justin.
quote: "hey man my sister is getting married and she wants you to shoot her wedding".
First words out of my mouth were, "no sir, call a pro photog". His reply, "well she doesn't
have the money for a photog and if you don't do it she's only going to have a friend show
up with their point & shoot". So, I agreed only after everyone understood that I didn't have
the proper equipment and that I've never shot a wedding before. I also wanted to make
clear that there would be no pressure on me as to how these pictures turned out. Everyone
agreed and said ok. end of quote.
Your honesty paid off and you were rewarded for it.
This happened to my very first wedding too. The shots came out wonderful and I was
viewed a professional after that. It was just the ticket to get me going.
Well done and I hope your shots have come out well. Look forward to see some shots.
Remember to build up your portfolio too for future weddings.

Written agreements help to prevent such misunderstands and arguments later. Even if it was
not possible to sign the contract at the time because of no package agreed, there should
have been some written agreement regarding the deposit.
It is indeed a lesson learned. Though you have been badly let down I would pay the deposit
back.

Thanks John, after seeing this image, I have nohing to worry about. It also shows Bride-maids
in white.
-
I used to jote everything down, not just the settings of the camera, but location, time etc.
Now it's imprinted in the brain, well most of the time and I still make some little mistakes.
-
After the responses in this thread I'm now looking forward to it too with a lot more
confidence. Thanks all. I'll let you you know how I get on and show a couple of images.

Thanks Danielle,
but the bride to be is English I think it's her personal choice. Perhaps because she has red
hair.
Here is a picture of her.
-
A much more realistic price. Slightly more expensive in the UK. It costs 219 British pounds
but free shipping.
$299 in the USA = 170 British pounds.
But add VAT 17.5 % for us brits it's more closer to 199 British pounds.
Still a bargain and at last my order has gone in.

I have an up-coming wedding to shoot on May 13th.
The brides dress is bright red (she has reddish hair too) Her bridesmaids are all white and the
groom has black tuxedo.
This is my first wedding where the bride is not dressed in white or cream or ivory.
Have you taken shots of a bride dressed in red? How have they come out? Is there nothing for
me to worry about? She wants colour and some black and white photos.
-
Mostly manual but on occasions auto-focus when required.
-
I shouldn't think it would put people off, it's part of a photographers service to provide the album. I'm too based in the UK and do quite a few weddings and always provide an album of their choice with the photos.
My next booking, the bride's father only yesterday asked me to see what album that I provide. In the UK I have yet to see a couple not ask about an album along with the photos.
