I think it's a visual delight - the bleakness and distressed finish really evoke the idea of a time when perhaps we are no longer here to battle with nature.

A sensational shot - a thunderbird never looked better!

I adore this shot. There's a curiously seductive balance struck between tension - is she falling? - and grace - looks like a dancer of sorts moving fluidly to another shape.
I also admire the additional contrast of the modern woman and the slightly aged and seen-better-days room in which this was shot.
Black and white was a beautiful choice to present the work, too.
