  1. Good advice Vallery. Well worth trying both before deciding. I have done just that, and guess what...I am now the very proud and totally satisfied owner of the D200. I have to say that the added custom capabilities, along with the solid feel and excellent handling of every situation knocked me out......incredible piece of equipment.
  2. I think 7 Day have their own branded card. Viking are good, I use a 1GB with a Nikon D70s. I would check your camera's website for the compatible recommendations before buying, as Nikon do not work well with Kingston for instance.
  3. Wow, great tips, thanks a lot one and all. I am going this Sunday and will be staying in Sharm El Sheikh. I will be doing St. Catherines and will certainly try the trek to the top (plenty of water I think). Thanks also for the WB tips Michael, can imagine it can be a bit tricky in that sort place. Hopefully will be able to post some nice results on my return.

    Cheers

    Gerry

  4. Hi all, sorry if this question is a bit lame but I am visitng the

Sinai Peninsula next week and have bought a Polarising Filter

(Circular) for my D70s lenses (18-70mm and 70-300mm). I am looking

for any advice regarding use of this filter or photographing

subjects (various landscape, portrait or street) in such a hot ,

    bright sunny situation

  5. Read and follow these instructions. Also thee is no firmware update for the D70s at present, at least not in the UK.

Quick guide for download and installing this firmware

Download and expand the firmware files.

Format an approved memory card in the camera (Microdrives cannot be used).

Connect D70 to computer (in MSC USB mode) or use a CF Card Reader (if copying the firmware upgrade to memory card, do not use a Lexar Media JumpShot USB cable as the D70 firmware update may not be performed correctly).

Copy one of the downloaded files AD700200.bin (A firmware) or BD700200.bin (B firmware) to the top level of the card . Do not copy both files to the card at the same time.

Disconnect the camera from the computer.

Turn the camera on, press the "Menu" button and select "firmware Ver".

    Follow the camera's on-screen menus.

At completion of upgrade turn the camera off.

Repeat steps 2 - 7, to perform the second firmware update.

    Re-format Card.

  6. Hi note a lot of answers which may be right, but I bought D70s 2 months ago and had exactly same problem. It was not dust on the sensor though but dust on the lens which is much easier to deal with. It is natural to be so excited about using a new camera, not to think about whipping the lens out of plastic wrapping and forgetting about the effects of static and it's ability to attract dust. A quick blow on both ends cured the problem.
  7. Hi, I am looking too, but have heard that if you are a Mac user with iPhoto, you can send your prints to Apple and they send back the bound book. I have seen the results and they are fantastic. Costs around ?50 for about 40 prints. I am not a Mac user, nor do I have iPhoto so still looking.
  8. I have recently purchased a Nikon D70s and wondered if it is

advisable to use a UV or Skylight filter to protect the lens. I

understand most Digital Cameras have UV filters built in but what

    effect will this have?

  9. I recently bought a D70s and found the same problem. LUCKILY...it was dust on the lens. I removed the lens, and UV filter. Gave them a good blow with a monster bush, and hey presto....gone. Obviusly in my eagerness to get shooting I picked up some particles.
