I have a 20d, if the shutter fails hopefully way after 100,000, can it be repaired and what is the cost. Do canon do the work and guarantee another 100,000?
regards wayne.

use one on my 20d, and it is spot on. (macro version)

I have searched in this way previously, I always do. What you will find though is that the results you get are for the 17-35 2.8-4 EX. I am asking about the newer 'DG' version with the 72mm filter thread.
Please don't bother wasting your time answering this thread if you do not have anything to add regarding this lens.
best regards wayne.

anybody got any experience with the new version of this lens, possibly
any examples ?
I would be very thankfull

A great ( or should that be Gr8 ) big thank you to all. I welcome all of your comments and find them all very constructive. I am having second thoughts with regard to the yellow pages.
I am trying to come across as modern, so use the text message style name to this end. However I got the idea from the infinity symbol and merged the two together.
Just put this together, I want it to be clean and modern. Perhaps I will use this in my new web design ? thoughts welcomed..

Thanks jojo & yakim,
I had been contemplating the UWA 10-20 or 12-24. My reasons for the two afore mentioned lens' though was that they are both Faster in terms of aperture size, and give me the range to shoot 'street photography' more discreetly. These would be better to leave on the camera more of the time, do you not think? I love the 24-70, but sometimes it just seems a little too big for carrying around with me all the time.( I usually take it everywhere!)( I should love the 30 1.4 also but obviously I need to trade off against the convienience of a zoom) This is what got me thinking about the 17-35 & 18-50, because they give me that 30mm (50mm equiv) within a physicaly smaller lens, plus wide angle ( not ultra wide i know, but again heres where we have to compromise!)
I would love the UWA but at this stage think it might be better to have a more 'all rounder' with a little more on the wide side. I know only I can decide in the end. That was why I was trying to find a little more info about the 17-35 with regard to optical quality.I have read bad reviews about the original 82mm filter version, but wonder if these issues are now sorted with the new 72mm DG version? As I see it this should have just enough range overlap with my 24-70, that I could keep lens changes to a minimum during weddings.(when I get my second body, which will hopefully be a 5d, I know my choice problems will be sorted.)Untill then though what do you think?
best regards wayne.

I have a 20d with 24-70 2.8 EX and 70-200 2.8 EX and I am over the
moon with them. However, I am some-what lacking in the wide
department. I am interested in the two lenses 17-35 EX DG & 18-50 2.8.
I have read good things about the 18-50 (and nearly got it over my
24-70, but got the latter due to portrait wedding photography.) I have
not found too much on the newer DG 17-35 lens though. i want it mainly
as a walk about/landscape and indoor wedding shot lens. Anyone got any
experience or samples ? (more-so the 17-35 ?)
best regards wayne little. (www.cre8iveweddingphotography.co.uk)

A little Tip,
when shooting at 1600 or 3200 dial +1 exposure comp, it seems to help with noise (when shooting RAW)
regards wayne.
-
Thanks david,
just another quickie, do you then 'clean' them up at all or is the 'noise grain' ok at these speeds ?(I find up to 800 ok on my 20d) I wouldn't like to increase my workflow anymore than is necessary.
regards wayne.
-
Out of interest, David, what ISO speed was used for your hands & ring shot. What speed do you find yourself using most ?
I know the 20d handles 'noise grain' well, and therefore the f4 speed of the 24-105 on the 5d should not be too much of an issue, whats your opinion ?
regards wayne.

Hi,
I have been using a 24-70 EX on my 20d, but I am going to buy a 5d in
the future and use my 20d as backup. What are peoples opinions on
doing away with my sigma and getting the 24-105 /f4 L to use on the 5d
and use a 50 1.8 or my 70-200 f2.8 EX for low light work when needed ?
I see the benefits of the L glass possibly outdo the need for the
larger aperture and just rely on the 20d when low light lens is needed.
Best regards wayne.

I too have a Sigma 24-70 2.8 DG Macro, with 420 and 550 flash. Never had a problem I dont think. What problems are you having ?
best regards Wayne.

I have the 20d with a Sigma 24-70 DG macro a 70-200 f2.8 APO DG, I use a 420 and a 550 EX with the and have had no probs. I also use a stofen.
Hope that helps.
Regards wayne.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I was using it on a 20d.

Hello all,
I currently have a 24-70 2.8 and I am happy with it. But being quite a
large lens I was wondering about the comparisons with the 18-50 2.8.
I would have a wider lens, still ok for portraits (80mm) and I believe
it is smaller and lighter. This would be a better walk around lens,
would it not ?
I do shoot some weddings and this would enable me to change lens's
less with the wide capability of the 18-50.
I also have to 70-200 2.8 for portraits. Would I miss that 20mm in
between?
Any feedback would be welcome.

marc please dont be so rude in your answers. courtesy costs nothing.

Hello all, I currently have the above lens and I am looking at maybe a
tele converter (1.4 or 2.0). Has anyone had or got any experience to
share on this subject? I also have the 24-70 2.8 ex macro and although
sigma does not list this as compatible in its list, would it work?
Sample shots would be most welcomed...
Best regards Wayne.
Ps any one used the 30mm f1.4 also ?

Only had the Err99 prob when used with one of the Lexar 'Problem' CF cards. got rid of it and now no probs (Latest Firmware too)

Just come across this thread and I'm hooked ! I cannot wait to try this out, it's late now and i've just got back from a client (wedding work) so I'm of to bed. But I know my first task for tomorrow when I get back...
dont think many brides will want this though! unless their the bride of frankenstien.
BTW I too have the Sigma 70-200 & 24-70 & 10-20. They are all superb.
Best regards Wayne.
