  1. This happened to my 80-200 AF-D, also. Nikon repaired it at no charge but the repair is

useless. The button on the new ring is nothing like the old one. It does not have a spring

nor does it lock focus. I can turn the ring to M or AF and then turn the focus ring a little

which will lock it temporarily. If I inadvertently touch the ring, then I have to start all over

because neither manual nor AF will work. The lens is pretty much worthless this way.

  2. Hi: An elderly but still creative and active member of my photo club would like to be able to continue to

use his Honeywell Repronar slide copier which he uses with great imagination and expertise.

Unfortunately, the bulb is burned out. He contacted his one source, bulbman, who said he hasn't had

them in 4 years. I have looked on ebay and searched around the internet but turned up just about nothing

although I see that many people do use them. Fred will never own a computer or a digital camera so I am

trying to find him a solution to this problem. Perhaps someone here has an extra bulb to sell or even the

whole thing. Thanks for any ideas. (I did find some for sale but only to local people about a thousand

miles away.) I wasn't sure which forum would be best for this post. Sorry if it's the wrong one.

  3. After reading and rereading the instructions and the warning that the camera may become

inoperable, I decided against trying the firmware update for my D70. I can't find anyone to

do it for me, either at my Mac reseller or at the Bestbuy Geeksquad place. I know a few pro

photogs but none of them have ever done it because they say they always have the newest

cameras and never need to update. thanks for any suggestions. I know I will mess it up if I

try it. Local camera dealers have no interest in this, even for a fee which I would gladly pay.

    Thanks. Randall

  4. Hi:

this was so disappointing to me that I called Nikon and Adobe. They both told me the same thing: use the software that came with the camera to download the files. My Mac came with a program called Graphic converter which does allow me to see the ISO. iView Media Pro 2 also allows me to see it. I have not used the Nikon software because I never read good things about it and have enough trouble with my files.
