<p>What are your ideas for doing this ? Just wondering how people normally go about doing this. In this instance there is no time allocated from the ceremony to the reception and the bride would like to be revealed to the groom prior to walking down the aisle.<br>
Any thoughts ?<br>

<p>Freya,<br>
Smugmug works for me, I like it coz you can update the site to the way you would like it, it does take a little HTML experience, and I mean a 'little' but they do have very good help that can point you in the direction of people that have customized their own websites and felt the pain before you.<br>
They are constantly updating their website, the new checkout and payment screens are very nice.<br>
Check out mine if you want to see the things that can be done with little effort. There are many more that have been customized better, but I like the simplistic elegant style, less is more type feel of mine.<br>
Mine is larcombephotography.com<br>
I do watermark, but with a 50% opacity, so it's not spoiling the overall image.<br>
I don't blog, maybe I will someday, but I'm not the most chatty person ;-)<br>
Good luck,<br>

I'm with you on that one Tony, I never stop them, I do step out into the aisle of course to get the best shot and some people do stop because of that. I've also done a few hotel weddings (not in church) where the hotel co-ordinator has already told them to stop for a photo on their way down the 'aisle', but normally I try not to break up the flow.

when I'm not using it, to conserve battery power ? or is that just a waste of
time ?
This is it for me, I'm logging off until the new year, I'm looking forward to
the well earned break with my family, Merry Xmas to you all, and Happy Holidays
to everyone else.

Claudio, how well do you do with respond.com ? I half signed up with them until I got to the "you need to pay $149" page and then I cancelled out, but within 10 mins I had an email for an inquiry through them, without the customer details of course !?
Are they worth going with ? can I expect a new customer every 10 mins ?
Tony.

Hi Juliet, I've never used digilabs so I can't comment on them, smugmug can be customized to resemble your own website.

Conrad, if you do encounter a zombie attack could you make sure that you fire off a few shots first, preferrably with the 85 1.2, a zombie with great bokeh, now that's a money shot right there.

I know this question has been asked already, and I've done a search and
listened to several points of view, but I still wanted to ask the question
myself.
I'm about ready to trade in my trusty old 17-40L F4, my three chioces for a
replacement would be:-
1. EF 24-70L F2.8
2. EF 24-105L F4 IS
3. EF-S 17-55 F2.8 IS
What I like, the 2.8, the reach of the 105, the IS, I think in that order.
What I'm worried about..... the EF-S, I have 20D's right now, and can't see me
updating for a year or so, so maybe that's not such a problem, but it's not
an 'L' lens, what difference will that make ? The F4 on the 105, I like the
reach, but is it worth losing the 2.8 for it ?! The 24-70, not wide enough on
the 20D ?
What do you think ?
Tony.

Gloria,
If you don't mind me asking why would you pay for another site if you already have a pro smugmug account set up ? you could use drop down boxes to direct people in the right direction amd have one generic or even a slideshow on the front page, I do the same on mine, I have boxes for weddings, portraits, pricing, contact, etc.... check it out if you want some idea of what you can do... http://larcombe-photography.com

Nadine, the explanation that you wrote is extremely concise and very informative. It should probably be kept as a sticky for all future questions on this subject.
Excellently written.
-
Paul, I did, but that wasn't my question, my question was what do other people do to get the white balance right in the first place.
-
William,
I do shoot Raw and I do keep with the AWB, I think that's what's worrying me ! the room was moody, in that it was not totally white, but the ceilings were, and I was bouncing, I'm not sure what happened.
-
Hello all,
How do you set your white balance ? I noticed a few of my photos from a recent
wedding coming out a little yellow, easily correctable in PS of course, but I
would rather avoid it next time if poss !
Thanks,
Tony.

OK, back again, I just read what you wrote Rich, interesting stuff. What advice can people give me as a Canon guy on setting up something wireless, I looked into it briefly and it all seemed soooo expensive !
I realise that my flash is going to be set off by other cameras, so I was only thinking of using it for the B+G formals outside, I'm still not sold on the idea, but I'm not un-sold, if that makes sense.
-
I've got that set-up that Conrad mentions, the 580ex with umbrella, I've yet to use it at an actual wedding (maybe tomorrow). Conrad, do you take that set-up to your weddings ? and do you trigger it with the other 580ex on camera ?

I went with Smugmug too, I've been with them for 2 years, I noticed only this week that they've made some upgrades to their shopping cart and checkout screens and functions, which look pretty nice.
One good thing about the yearly fee is that you get a signing bonus if someone uses your name/email address to sign up, and the person signing up gets money off too, a win-win situation as they say !
My main reaon for joining though was the fact that you can customize the web pages to your liking, and they have excellent help tutorials to do that.
I've been happy and so have my customers with the delivery and print quality.

I'm a big fan of Smugmug, they give you the option of customizing your website if you choose the pro service, which I believe is $150 a year, a reasonable price I think. The help desk is very, uhhhh, helpful too, and prompt.

Now, I'm not sure I have the terminology right, but what I want is plastic see-
through covers/containers/sleeves for 5x7 and A4 prints, I don't want to put
them in a binder but I need them to stack in a cardboard box to present to the
local team, that way each parent child can easily identify the photo of their
child or themselves.
Any ideas ?

Does anyone use MarketingTool for their advetising needs ? I'm only word of
mouth right now, and as many free sites as I can get on, this company has a
tempting 3 month offer but I'd be interested in any experiences that you guys
have had with them.
Tony.
-
Jeff, I'll check out the blog, cheers.
If you don't write a comment the photos turn up as links.
Tony.

Ok, I should have read the post before, they are examples of shots without flish in available light, I'm sorry for jumping the gun.
I'll ask another question instead, to clarify, so inside you mostly use your zoom and your primes at 2.8 and below, and mostly have the ISO set high ? do you shoot in Manual or Aperture Priority ?
Tony.
-
Jeff,
Stunning photos sir, incredible. All the ones you posted here, none of them have any flash involved right ? some obviously have no flash, but none of them ? Do you do any formals at all, you must get asked to do them, and how do you feel about the formal shots ?
Tony.

<p>I did my first 5K run this weekend, woohooo, I was happy with it, nice to just to finish, I wasn't too worried about what time I posted.<br>
Anyway, I'm walking around after the race, in my running gear, incoummunicado, and some guy asks me to take a photo of him and his friend. I say "ok" take the point and shoot from him and get ready to take the shot, he then asks me to make it candid, "no problem" I say. <br>
So they are chatting and I take two photos, I'd normally in that situation only take one, but after the first one the guy didn't turn back around and take the camera off me. So, I go to hand the camera back and he pushes it back at me and says "take some verticals, crop in real tight !". I had to double check I didn't have my 'I'm a pro' badge on or something ! I think "hey, whatever" and snap a couple more, vertical and in tight, just like he asked.<br>
Well, I've taken 5 or 6 now, but the guys are still talking, and in pose ! I go to hand the camera back and they ignore me, I snap a couple more, go to hand it back, ignored. It felt like I held the camera out for 2 mins before the guy finally turned around and took it from me.<br>
Of course, no "thank you" for it, but I guess you get used to that.<br>
