  1. My cousin has asked if I could take a few shots of him along the

likes of headshots. I don't have much equipment since I'm just

starting out. I have a Rebel XT with 2 lenses (50mm f/1.8 and EFS 17-

85mm IS). Which should I use? I will be shooting outdoors with ample

    room.

  2. I have tried what has been suggested here, but I can't seem to make it work. My setting is on 'continuous' yet it keeps re-numbering from 'Picture 001' instead of continuing.

Maybe someone can tell me how they download their pictures from their Rebel XT to a PC? Not sure if it's the same with a Mac. I have downloaded the software that came with the camera. That doesn't seem to solve my problems here either. Please help someone.

  3. Everytime I download pictures from my XT to my computer, the pictures

are numbered starting with "Picture 001" as opposed to continuing with

the numbers from before. This is annoying, as it doesn't allow me to

manage my pictures in an easy fashion. Can anyone help?

Will using the software that came with the camera help me here?

  4. I am so enjoying my new hobby of digital photography. I think this is

going to be a lifelong hobby. I kept my Sony 828 and bought a Rebel XT

after thinking long about the Nikon D70.

Now, I only bought a couple of lenses (Canon 50mm f/1.8 and Tamron

28-75mm f/2.8XR Di) with my Rebel XT this past Saturday. On Monday, I

went and bought an extra battery and the vertical grip.

I am now looking to purchase an external flash. Any suggestions?

I'm open to spending another $700-$1000 on lens costs. Any suggestions?

I pretty much enjoy taking the following (% of use):

(50%) portraits of children and other family members

(20%) pictures of friends at various events

(10%) action shots at the park

    (10%) macro shots

    (10%) scenic/landscape shots

  5. I'm brand new to digital SLR, having used a Sony 828 for the past

year. I just bought a Digital Rebel XT and a couple of lenses (Canon

    50mm f1.8 and a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8) to start. Today, I'm picking up

my vertical grip and an extra battery.

I hurried home after purchasing it this weekend and took some

pictures of my baby using the prime lens. I used autofocus on my

shots. The shots that came out focused looked marvelous! But there

were a few shots that came out soft. Are the reviews that bash Canon

correct when they say that the autofocus is bad on Canons or am I

just needing to learn how to use the camera better?
