1.
Thanks for a great question and super answers which help me learn the Nikon D800 AF system, which after reading manual I was still confused, but you guys helped me understand how I think it works, time will tell, it's different from my D700 - D300 bodies.

  4. I just got my D200 back from Nikon 9 weeks for

DBS (search on dpreview for DBS) camera would say dead battery and it was fully charged, they replaced everything and now the grip doesn't work.

causes camera to lock up, no display. I have to remove batteries to get it working.

Nikon called it lost of battery connection..

    good luck

  5. Well Nikon had me run a series of tests.

1- Grip MB-D200 vs Non-Grip. I eliminated the grip as the cause, even though it never happened before I started using the grip.

2- AF vs AF-S lens, It doesn't happen with just primes, only on AF-S with VR, it must induce a current surge?

I just sent it in.. They got a BIG backlog.

  6. I just got an 18 - 200 VR and it seems to get stuck at times and not-AF, when I switch to another lens and shoot its find so i know its not the body (D200) seem to happen at the long end, changing it to 85mm seem to free it up.

Setting it /m and using it as a range finder works ok, so i think its a af-s motor or gear drive.

Other than this problem I like the lens, though not as sharp as a 70-200mm f/2.8

I am leaving for a photo shoot Monday and will bring a back 18-70mm.

and send it in when I get back.

    Happy shooting.

  7. I just had a good service experience with Nikon service at the Melville service center. Repair was to a damaged 60mm Nikkor lens.

They brought the smashed lens (from a drop)back to like new staus for $170 and 7 days turn around. I am very happy with my favorite lens again.

  8. Hook your laptop up to a digital projector and run a slideshow of the photos as they up load for more sales and visual adversitment.

back to the question, i think you would need to turn on file sharing and have the firewall open for the wifi.. encription would be a nighmare.

Pleas lets us know how it works or doesn't work.. lol

  9. Well hi Josh and thanks everybody for the reply.

Yes; I'm a retired PCB design engrg and know how to solder,

but was worried about blowing up my D200... lol

thou I wouldn't mind reverse engrg a MC-35 and build my own.

Please let me know how your works out..

  10. So I was only able to find the cable at several ripoff camera shops

, it's current selling for $189.00 plus shipping.

Ebay auctions are also running about $187.00

It look like in Januray a offshore company will start producing them at

an unknown cost, but looks like a nice product, it will have custom connectors

    for each GPS reciever.

Here's the link, email them if interested.
