I've bought the standard 'kit' Canon 350D, with the EF-S 18-55. This
lens is fine for me as a standard lens but I want a tele zoom, to photo
the kids at football as well as portraits.
What is the best second lens, according to you guys & gals?
Based on what I've read here, I tend to favour the Canon EF 70-200mm
f/4.0L USM, which seems to retail in the mid USD 500s. The 2.8 is
simply out of my budget & probably too good for me, to be honest.
I'm looking for something good quality (the 70-200 standard zoom
seems to do less well in picture quality & the plastic mount puts me
off), ok for kids, animals, portraits, light enough where I do not need to
lug a tri/mono pod with me.
Any ideas?

Seems best solution is to convert CR2 RAW to TIFF, using the Canon RAW Image Task
software for now, until PS CS has its own RAW converter? Alternative is the Coral Pixmatic
software but that seems to do much same as Canon's software??

To date I can't find a way of processing Canon CR2 RAW files in Photoshop. I've
downloaded the 2.4 RAW converter, even tried the DNG converter but nothing works.
Heard rumours that Photoshop CS2 supports this & that Adobe will release a RAW
converter for 350D in May.
Ano other advise?

Just bought one in Singapore. Sing$1,400 for body only. Sing$ 2,300 for body, lens (15 -
55), 1Gb card, 2Gb card, case & spare battery. Great camera!

I have same problem - can't open Canon 350D RAW using P CS, including RAW 2.4. Just
tried the DNG converter, as suggested by Robert above. That might work for Nikon RAW
but doesn't work for Canon 350D RAW files.
Waiting to hear from Adobe on whether this will be fixed in May (now?)
350D is good or not?
