  1. I had this happen the very first time I loaded film into the M7. I think it's because I tried to cock the shutter when it was still open (I had left the speed dial on "auto."). I was able to unjam it by applying some gentle force to the film advance lever and have never had the problem since. I make it a point to make sure the shutter speed dial is set to a manual speed (1/1000) when loading film. I did a google search when I had this problem and read a few instances of this happening to others as well.
  2. Most of my Contax lenses had lots of dust specks (one planar 50mm had about 5 times the dust as the one you have) on the inside elements and I never found any impairment of quality, even with a slide projected to 8 feet tall. You may try to get at least a partial discount/refund from the seller if they didn't advise you of the dust inside and instead advertised it as "mint" or something similar. I wonder if the sealed lenses form Olympus or Canon, etc, that are supposed to be water resistant also get dust inside? My near new Leica lenses have no dust inside (yet!).
  3. Thanks everyone! I've enjoyed and much appreciated all the comments, and it gave me a lot to think about. I've decided to keep the M7. Today, I was at a local arts fair with my 7 month old son, my dad and my wife and enjoyed taking pictures with the Leica. I *know* I didn't miss any moments, and I had fun too because I was able to participate in the fun. All around me I saw folks with digicams or heavy digital SLR's with big zooms either lugging around too much equipment (the latter) or spending more time looking at the LCD screens and cursing that they missed the shot (former)than they did appreciating their time there. I got a great shot of a lama and my family! I'm almost 100% certain I got it -- and no mirror slap to hide the actual picture I took.I had provia 100F loaded into the leica and took my 35mm lens and never looked back. I had great fun capturing my son's first ride on the merry-go-around. I got some dirt on the camera, but I must admit I came home and wiped it down with some microfibre cloth. But at least I'm using it!
  4. I bought a leica M7 with 3 lenses (2 titanium) but the damn set was in

such fine shape I've been scared to use it at a party, the park, or

the beach. I got especially ansy since someone at Leica advised me

only 661 of the titanium Elmarit 90/2.8 were made. I've taken my sony

dsc-v1 instead (with it's wobbly "Zeiss" branded lens)and spent most

of the time in the sixth dimension (that's where the hours of accrued

Shutter delay time goes to). I think I need a "user" M6. Ebay had a

10cent promo so I listed the stuff and with the proceeds plan on

getting a roughed up, user leica and lens. Has anyone actually bought

brand new and trashed their Leica? Did life get easier after the first

couple of scuff marks and scratches? (I pray I don't become a

collector.)How long did the regret and remorse last?
