I Love the composition in this, as well as the documentary feel. The only thing I find distracting is the softness. This may be deliberate? Were you using a filter - it sort of feels that way - or maybe it is my monitor. It feels like sharpness would add to the documentary feel. Otherwise I really like it.

This is lovely. I really love the light especially, and also the framing. I would love to know some of the technical details if you are happy to share them. The slight lopsidedness is distracting, but not hard to fix in the darkroom, or in PS (with a rotation of a few degrees, & filling in the gap created at the top which is luckily black & thus easy to sample)if you wanted to do that. you would only lose a little off the bottom.

Wow! I agree this is magical. The light is gorgeous - everything about it. Looks like something out of Lord of the Rings. Where is this place? Stunning shot.

This is lovely, and has lots of potential. I do think it is definately improved for cropping in the way you say; and I would also see if you can get some more detail out of the arm in the foreground (burning & dodging in PS - which I don't know much about, but plenty of others on PN do). Or perhaps that would take focus away from the face? Just some thoughts, but it has a lovely feel.

Hi Miroslav, Just wanted to say that this looks gorgeous from the thumbnail, unfortunately the full image won't upload on my browser for some reason - hope no-one else has this problem, or you may not get the ratings / comments this clearly deserves.

Thanks for the lovely comments & welcome Alberto! PN seems to be a great community, and everyone has been very helpful. Karina : )

Thanks also Stefan : )

Thanks so much Matt & Larry! Both for for the appreciative comments, and the helpful technical hints. And thanks Matt for going to all that trouble! It looks much better - both without the flare, and with the guards in the middle (very efficient photoshoping in under a minute there I must say!) It makes it a much better photo. Thank you also Larry for the info re the 300D ISO settings. I didn't realise (only got the camera in January) - I haven't tried to blow up any of the images yet that are over 200, so it is really good to find out about the limitations of the camera. Guess I will have to learn quickly so I can find other ways to get the right exposure, and save really hard for a dream camera : ) Thanks again guys! Karina

I think this is very beautiful and atmospheric - it really makes me feel something; and I love the tones. 6/6

Not as sharp as I would have liked (see technical details for info
on why). All part of the steep learning curve of new-photography
land. All good fun, & good learning, but a shame when India is a
long way to go back to from Melbourne. Thanks for the great site &
community - really enjoying it, the support/learning, & inspiration
of so many great photographs / photographers.
Comments / ratings appreciated. Karina : )

Nice composition. The lines of the fence give it an arty look, and the bird is very cute. Great capture.

Gorgeous. I hope you have this on your wall.

I Love this. It is so timeless. For some reason it makes me think of a quiet, beautiful art house film. Really tells a story, but also a sense of mystery. 7/7

Wow! Very dramatic - how did you get this? Very effective.

Hi Mark, From one new photographer to another - I really like this shot. I wonder though if you could get a bit more oomph in the colour / contrast, by going back (if you can) when the light has more warmth to it (maybe late afternoon - golden colours in the light might emphasise the lovely browns in the old car?) Or maybe try a shorter exposure - just looks slightly overexposed / flat. I really think the composition is lovely (have you tried cropping a bit off the top? It is really well seen, and it would be worth playing with a few different exposure times and light angles. Maybe even in B&W? Just a few thoughts, though there are many more experienced heads than mine on this site who may be more helpful. Regards, Karina

I Love this and would be very proud to have it on my wall if I had taken/made it. The simplicity makes it effective, as well as the journey. And i'm a bit of a sucker for panaromas.

Love the light & texture also, and the metaphor.

Lovely tones, texture, light, shapes, intimate feeling. Really lovely shot.

Thanks David & Claude for your lovely comments. Cheers, Karina.

I want to go to this place. Looks like the setting of a great story or (I agree) surrealist painting. Please tell us the story of the lamps being in the desert. Great capture.

I would like to see the original of this before you added the texture. The shot itself seems to be a really gorgeous detail shot, from a really interesting angle; the texture though confuses & hurts my eye and makes me feel seperated from the intimacy that a detail shot like this normally captures. Would love it if you felt like uploading the original.

I really like this. I am a bit obsessed with taking window & door shots, & the way you display these is great, & very aesthetically pleasing. Makes me wonder who lives behind them all.
