  1. Since you're in Canada, you might ask Gerry Smith at Kindermann in Toronto to have a look at the camera. He's not cheap, but he does very good work on Leica M's with quick turn around.

I don't think you mentioned where you purchased this camera from, but it sounds like a prime candidate for a return or partial refund. Provided, of course, that you were promised an issue-free camera.

How much you have to pay for a "MP-viewfinder upgrade" for a M6 classic, regarding especially 0.85 magnifications? Any experiences?"

Gerry Smith at Kindermann in Toronto just upgraded the viewfinder in my M6 TTL 0.85 for $135 CDN when he had the camera for a CLA. I think he said $185 for the viewfinder upgrade by itself. Fast turnaround too.

  3. Another vote for Aperture on Museum Street. I always stop in when I'm in London. Unfortunately (for them) the most I've ever bought is a cup of coffee. Nice shop, nice service, nice stuff.

Maybe this isn't allowed, but there have been a number of M6's in the Rangefinder Forum classifieds lately. Probably cheaper than anything you'll find in London.

  4. The shutter sound issue with ZI cameras is totally overblown, IMO. I have a ZI and an M6TTL.

The shutter is slightly quieter on the M6 (or maybe just lower in pitch), but the ZI shutter

    sounds fine.

I agree with the original poster: the viewfinder in the ZI is fantastic. 35 and 50 in isolation

and no flare-out (more than I can say for the M6).

  5. I use the Domke 5xb. It's kinda close to "man-purse" territory but it's just the right size for

1-2 bodies and a spare lens or two. If you want something to carry your camera and a few

other things I like the satchel better thant the fx-3 (too bulky).
