When crossing the digital divide as far as an SLR body is concerned
I would be happy enough with 6 megapixels, slightly biased towards
Nikon because I already have Nikon AF lenses.
The ISO range of the two brands is what I would like to address,
Cannon offer 100-3200 EOS. Nikon offer 200-1600 D70 and 50-400
Coolpix. 1600 is as fast as I need to go but what difference is
there with Cannon going as low as 100 as opposed to Nikon (D) 200.
Is the ISO just a way of explaining to a traditional user who may
not know the difference between a J-Peg and a TIFF how thier product
performs? Is it possible that having chosen the D-70 the files will
be pushed to perform like 3200's or Pulled down to 100 in the
digital darkroom?
Thank You for taking the time to read my post.

"The line between photography & graphic arts is becoming less defined...I'm reminded how the desktop publishing ®evolution made everyone a graphic artist (not?)...for me PS is an essentail part of photography just as the wet darkroom is an essentail part for the traditionalist who prefer personal control over (for) image enhancement...do you need a giant SUV to go grocery shopping."
The flavor of the sportsshooter messages seems to convey people getting ready for a new era of PS. That wet darkroom and cutting Amberlith/Rubilith used to drive me nuts. I yearned for Ctrl-Z so I am definitely not a tradtionalist but back when I was learning(?) Graphic Art the desktop evolution was taking place now PS7 makes PS3 seem like a darkroom lit by stadium lighting or a blunt X-ACTO knife. I would use the SUV analogy by Calling it my IUV:image utility veichile and it needs to be as powerfull as possible more powerfull than anything that our freinds at Adobe can offer (or the darkroom) it's my imagination. So after learning more and more about PS I won't find myself quoting piccasso as now that I have learnt photography it's time for suicide it can be "i am merely a public entertainer who understood his time"

Go to Image-Adjustments-Variations-Saturation, set dial to fine and click on less saturation a couple of times.

A non-profit arts organization has some exhibits comming up that I
would like to submit my work for. The tools of the trade I normally
use are my Nikon N50 lenses Nikon 28mm,AF Nikor 35-80 D, Sigma 70-
300 DL and my Digital Brownie Olympus C4000. As far as film usually
Fuji X-TRA (400). The projects are basically outdoor still-life
Macros shot in natural light 3pm. The project shot with the Olympus
is of course available for submission as J-PEGs/TIFFs.
For entry Slides are requested so should I reshoot the project, try
reproducing from the prints onto slide film or is Cross-Processing
an option? In my case budget is everything so I am looking for the
most ecconomic solution. Thank You for taking the time to read this
post.

Indeed a Lady of great talent one thing that makes her work a landmark in the industry is her tounge in cheek sense of humour which hopefully has rubbed off on those she taught.
One thing that caught my attention on the BBC link provided by Bob is that her fellowship with the "Royal Photographic Society" granted 1990 was honorary is there a reason why the closing paragraph of the article should not have read: granted fellowship as opposed to honorary.
Thank You Fay
