Don't rule out your first choice of Panasonic/Leica. I have an FZ1 which has an incredible 12x f2.8 lens - it is truly a fantastic camera. Very small, yet with a 38-420 zoom equivalent, image stabilization - really put the fun back into my photography.

I believe the latest FZ3/4 are even smaller.

In fact it's only 2Meg pixels - you don't just need pixels, just like you don't need neg size on 8x11...

Further to my shutter issues... I've dismantled the LX but can't

seem to find a way of removing the top plate - the control knobs

don't want to shift and I'm worried about levering them.

Anyone tell me how to pull them off safely or remove the top plate

without?

Sadly, I've tried replacing the battery with one from another LX that works perfectly and it makes no difference.

The shutter operates OK manually - it's as though the connection between the meter and the shutter closing mechanism isn't working to adjust the timing.

I'm going to replace the shutter blades anyway, so while I have it open I'll have a look around - any advice of what to look for and what NOT to do would be gratefully recieved!

I have a used LX which is misbehaving in Auto mode. Setting the

shutter speed manually works fine, but on Auto the shutter speed

just seems to be "fast" - slower speeds don't seem to work (in fact

it doesn't seem to adjust at all). The meter is working fine. Any

ideas?
