Well... this is an example : On my photo called "Out of time". I ask about mood and also about technical results of my camera (Quite important for a beginner)... And I received many ratings without comments.

<p>In fact, not a lot of PN users read the request, and I'm not sure that submitting a photo only for request could help me.

<br>I'm not disappointed but it seems to me that "rate" is the main response for submited photos. it's a pity, photo is a subjective art, and I think words could be more constructive.

Thanks Jacques for your contribution. I hope this could be changed. The main is not to get more and more 7/7 ratings, the main is to improve ! Photo is a daily request... If you stop your mind, that's the end.<p>PN isn't really only a galery for the best photographers of the world (even there is some), many beginners and amateurs are waiting for help and critiques. If we can get our request with our posted photo, it's really difficult to catch eyes... A so hard game to play...

What I meant is that I think it would be better to see the text of the request in the same time we see the photo (for example, how comment the light on one if we don't know it's the main subject of the posted request ?). Perhaps PN would change it ?!.

Well... I don't really know where I have to post this question, I

hope not to be undisciplined ! Why we can't see the text the

photographers has written in the "request for critiques" directory

when PN uploads the photo ? We just can see the title of the photo

and the name of the photographer, it's a pity ! In fact, we rate

and/or comment-critique his (or her) photo without knowing what is

about his (or her) request ! So, how to be right and really

constructive ?

Thanks a lot for your response ! (WOW ! really quick !) You know, I find PN very interesting, I enjoy beeing here ! It's true that this new version of ratings views makes me confused this morning, I thought "OH ! what did happen this WE ???". And I was a little lost in this so complete website !

I'm a quite recent user of PN and I'm french, so I think my english isn't good enough to understand all (I'm very sorry about my language level...). I've seen this morning that some ratings became anonymous and others not. What's the difference (in simple words) between the two ? Does a anonymous one comes from "rate recent posted photos" and a transparent one from a view of the photo cause of a visit through "top photos (or other) PN directory" or "user's portfolio" ? According to me, ALL ratings require a comment, I find it more honest (in my first day on PN, I don't comment all but now, I try to do) but I think it's easier to give a low rating for a PN friend than to an "unknown" one. I don't think to be able to give a 1/1 to 3/3 rating to somebody just because his way doesn't suit to me... Photo is a very subjective Art, Humans are often (always ?)subjective, so the main is to be "open-minded", I've received some bad ratings but I was dissapointed just because I didn't know the reasons why and not cause of the ratings itselves.
