  1. I have four Hensel Intergra 500's, and I need to start replacing them. Can you guys recommend a brand that is compatible with my

Hensels? I would like the new lights to be able to operate with my exiting lights, especially in terms of being able to operate as a master

    and/or a slave.

  2. <p>Hi Fellow Photo.netrs:<br>

Could I please have some recommendations on some equipment?</p>

<p>I will be doing a bunch of portraits at a local elementary school. I have the nice all purpose mottled grey backdrop, but I am concerned that it might not be holiday-ish enough. Could you recommend a nice, universally liked Christmas/holiday backdrop that I could use?</p>

<p>Also, I would like to use a posing table for close-ups. How about a recommendation for a sturdy, functional, and cost effective posing table?</p>

<p>Finally, I would like to put a hair light on a nice boom stand. Any ideas there?</p>

  3. <p>Hi!<br>

My photographer friend was recently shooting with her 5D, and about 10-15 of the Small JPG digital files didn't have an accompanying RAW file, even though she was recording JPG Small and RAW art the same time. Has anyone on this forum ever experienced anything like that? If so, what can be done about it?</p>

  4. <p>Thanks for all of your help. What I would really like at this time is a description of how it would work with a portrait about every three minutes. The line will be long, and they will keep coming. Can i switch out the backdrop in 30 seconds or less? If so, how does that work? If not, what other piece of portable equipment would be available?</p>
  5. <p>Hi! I have some big military balls coming up where I need to take lots of portraits. Instead fof shooting green screen, I would like to try to set up a frame with about three backgrounds on it so that I can pull them down like one would a window shade based on what they choose while they are in line. Is there anything like this?</p>

  6. <p>Hi,<br /> <br /> <br /> A photo editor of a luxury magazine wants to use a photo of mine for the december issue. This is the first time of something like this for me. <br /> <br /> This is how he worded his request:<br /> <br /> "I'm the photo editor for ... Luxury magazine. We're interested in running one of your images of ... [a piano player] in our december issue. Please let me know what would be involved in terms of usage fee and acquiring a high res file."<br /> <br /> <br /> What do you think I should lay out in terms of terms?</p>

  7. <p>Hi everyone, I live in Hawaii and regularly do shoots on the beach in bright sunlight. And I can't seem to get predictable results. Sometimes the subject just isn't lit well enough by the flash, even though the flash is very near the subject and set on "3" in Flash Compensation. And sometimes it seems as thought the flash really lights up the subject in the bright of the day. Could it be that the times the flash seems more adequate is when it isn't operation in High Speed Sync?<br>

Is the anybody out there that has noticed a big difference in flah performance depending upon whether or not Hiogh Speed Sync was enambled?</p>

  8. Hi,

Sometimes I shoot where the subjects are backlit by a beautiful sunset sky, and I want to get the rich colors of

the background while well-exposing the subjects. I do this by going to aperture priority and dialing down the

exposure adjustment (EV) to -2. What this does is to speed up the shutter by two stops. In theory, the given

power of the flash shouldn't be affected by the increase in shutter speed, since the flash pulse lasts shorter

than the shutter curtain duration. (Or is this not the case in high speed flash, which I shoot 90 percent of the

time?) Anyway, the subjects do tend to look too dark. Be that as it is, could I combine two flashes (bungee

them together or something) to expose the subjects better in this situation?

  9. Hi,

I use a cp-e4 and a cp-e3 to help power my 580 II's. What is a good plan for changing batteries? How do you know

when the cp units are depleted? How do you know when the 580's are depleted? The cp units have a red light that

is illuminated when they are attached to the 580 units. Do I watch that light? When the light goes out does that

mean that it isn't supplying adequate juice to the flash unit? Or do I watch the light in the 580? Is it when the green

light on the 580 (which indicates it is ready for another flash) doesn't come on for a long time?

I hope that this question resonates with at least a few of you...

  10. In case any one ever looks at this post again, i found the problem. It was the retaining ring just "upstream" of the manual focus ring (on the end-of the-lens side of the focus ring). It had become dislodged and was crooked. All I did was to put some pressure on it, pushing it in in the direction of the camera body, and it snapped into place. Problem fixed. i don't know what caused the ring to become dislodged.
  11. Last night I noticed that, when i tried to focus manually at a great distance

with my Canon 50 1.2, the image looked blurry. So I looked t the focus ring

chart on the lens, and I noticed that the mark which represents infinity didn't

go all the way to the reference mark. So when I took a "running start" and spun

the ring kind of fast, it went all the way to where it should be. Does this

mean that my lens just needs to to serviced or does it mean that I need a new copy?

  12. I have a CP-E4 and a CP-E3. How do i know when the battery levels are low

and/or are entirely depleted? i run the battery pack on the default in-camera

settings, where the flash gets some juice from the flash unit and some juice

from the battery pack for flash energy usage.

  13. Hi,

i would like to get this lens, but I am not sure that it is a good fit for me.

In terms of telephoto, i can mate my 70-200 IS with my 2x extender for 140-400

    at 5.6. The 200 with the 2x extender would be a 400 4.0.

In terms of a fast lens in low light, I currently have the 70-200 2.8, so it is

just one stop slower with the flexibility of the zoom.

Can i please have some suggestions and dialogue about this lens? I am sure that

I am missing something, because the cost of this lens and all of the talk

around it tells me that it is a real gem.

I shoot all kinds of subjects in all kinds of light. i am at

What are some uses that you all see for this lens, and do you think it would be

    useful for me?

  14. I am looking for a velour backdrop to use with my Manfrotto approx. 10' wide

backdrop stand. It seems that a lot of what I am seeing being offered are

pieces approx. 5' wide, 10' long. I need a piece 9' to 10' wide with the top

of it sewn so that I can put the Manfrotto horizontal pole through it. Any

    ideas?

  15. Colin, I was shooting inside in a fairly medium sized room.

Mark: That is a possibility, but not likely. This same thing happened before when I was putside shooting by the waterside. A friend of mine was taking my picture the the delay thing happened that time as well. I think we were using the STE-2 at that time.

Jason: Yes, I mean exactly that; the photos showed no sign of the flash at the time of exposure, but the flash went off after that none the less. Do you mean clearing the settings on the flash unit? That sounds like a good idea. How does ione do that for the 580 ex II?
