1.
I have owned 4 epson printers and although they made great prints all of them went into the rubbish bin, they all clogged and it did not take long. I had a similar problem with two canon printers but only after many years of use. My current printer is an HP photosmart B8550 printer it has run out of ink and staid unused for weeks on end and always starts right back up with new ink. My older small HP printer did the same so I will now use nothing else and would never use an Epson again they are just too much trouble

 2.
I think this is funny in that I never hear much about how these older cameras stack up to the newer ones. I own a Nikon D1 (2) a D1H and a D1x all of them take great photos I have many that hang on walls and are 13X19 inches. A camera is just a tool and the new cameras make using it easier not better. These old cameras take great photos as do the Olympus E300's and the E1 so why replace them its the image not the tool.

00bTuG-527415584.jpg.6e439595a4554cb84ceb85174258ff77.jpg

 3.
Tony I am 73 and like you it is a pleasure to buy the cameras I always wanted but never had the money for. SO I have in the house about 20 cameras 3 Olympus digital s 2 E300's and and E1 that's a pleasure to use. I have also picked up on eBay 4 Nikon D1 D1H and D1X cameras and a converted D1 IR then there is the Fuji S2 pro all of my others are film cameras a couple of Nikon EM's 2 Nikon FE's plus and assortment of others including a Yashica Mat and 2 Kiev 60's

 4.
Peter Gaunt read your response and though I agree that the breach of the peace was far fetched be aware that the police in NYC arrested a pro news reporter and took his camera and equipment then shoved him around some. We are now living in and age of the new Nazi Police it is a shame but its there in some places they, the cops will arrest you if you take their photos while they arrest someone else.

 5.
On cameras I have owned a lot in my day as I am now 73 years old and still shooting. When the digital revolution began I couldn't wait to own one. So my first DSLR was a Olympus E300 with the 14-45mm lens and the 40-150mm lens I got it from Carmeta camera as a refurb. then later picked up a second one for back up. I still use this camera and love it made many 20X24 prints from it and it has a real problem with low light focus. I next picked up the Olympus E1 a real delight to own and shoot again I still could blow my images up to 20X24. Well I saw a Nikon D1 for sale on ebay I bought it cheap 195.00 then it was the Nikon D1H I had to have 172.00 and then a D1X for another 200.00 I also picked up the D1 that had the IR conversion. So many lenses and cameras later I can say that for me I love them all they all have things they are great at and other things they suck at. But the point I am trying to make is that you can make great photos from any camera I have a lot of 13X19 inch photos from Yellowstone taken with the Nikon D1H that are really beautiful they look great on the wall. No one that sees them asks me what camera did I take them with they just admire the photo If I was trying to sell them for a living then maybe I might want a camera with a much higher sensor MP I have sold a few prints taken with the Nikon D1 and D1H but it is because they like the image they could care lees about the camera. So what I am trying to say is use what you have and get better at seeing the image you want to make no one will give a crap about what camera took what photo.

 6.
I am sure that you did this to correct the color but just in case. I use Picasa all the time and find I can correct a lot of faults quickly using it. So what I would have tried is using the tuning adjustment I would have use the eyedropper and clicked it on the white post to give it basic color balance then used the slider to do small adjustments for me that usually gets me really close to where I want the color to be. Then using the shadow and highlight sliders I can adjust contrast.

 7.
I have used this type of system for years its all setup for you as to lights and controller a quick setup and then set the lights at a distance you will be working in. The only thing I am not sure of is the trigger voltage (the voltage that goes through the camer to fire trigger the flash) I use a wein adapter that goes on the camera and keeps the camera safe.

 8.
Here is a suggestion and I know alot of others wont like it. You can now buy a nikon D1H at cheap cheap prices (last one I saw was 149.00 plus shipping) If your not going to blow them up larger than 8X10 the photos will look great and it is one of the fastest focusing cameras out there as it was made for sport photographers. I own one that I bought last year for 225.00 and just got back from a trip to yellowstone I have 20-30 of the photos I made into 13X19 inch prints and they look great maybe not as good as one of the new Nikon cameras but I would not have a problem displaying them in my house. The batteries suck but the camera is a great picture taker.

 9. You can buy a pro grade camera for under 500 add in a great lens for another 500 and a vertical grip for under 120 I am talking about the olympus E1 its a great camera water resistant the lens 14-54 is top notch and skin tones are the best I have looked at. Or go out and buy a 30D canon for 3000 a di nikon or d200 and be a poor boy. I just love the olympus and their optics are some of the best out there. It still comes down to choice.
