1.
A couple of shots from a trip along the Thames at Cliveden.
These were shot with the 5D3+70-200/2.8 IS and Hoya ND1000 and are stacks of ~10 2-minute exposures, that allowed me to get rid of river traffic.
Finally, another shot from Windsor Great Park. I hope to be out there again in better light later today.
This used the 7D2+400/2.8 (non IS)+1.4x
<a title="Deer in Windsor Great Park" href=" Deer in Windsor Great Park src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5731/22097068182_d93f8ffdf7_c.jpg" alt="Deer in Windsor Great Park" width="800" height="533" />

 2.
I've just checked my (2009) 100-400 to see what happens when I turn on the IS by focussing. There was no kick when it turned on, unlike the ones I saw with my first (2006) 24-105.
The critical factor is whether the IS is effective when you shoot. Have you tried any hand held shots that would require IS to give a sharp image? Try shooting the same thing both with IS set to on and off and then compare the results.
Hope this helps.

 3.
I spend a few hours in Windsor Great Park on Monday photographing some of the deer. The rutting season is well underway.
These were taken with a 7D2+400/2.8+1.4x I think IS would have been very useful on a gloomy October morning.
4.
Having searched this forum I've been unable to come up with an answer to this problem.
I want to use Photoshop CS4 to do some mean values of images to remove people from some images and to work on some long exposures. However, each time I come to the processing the Stack Mode option is greyed out and I can't go further - see the attached screen shot.
I've followed a couple of online tutorials and the process seems to be straightforward and CS4 should do it, I add my images to layers, convert into a smart oobject and then I should be able to go to stack mode to take the mean mean, but that's where it all falls over.
How can I get round the problem? Am I making some schoolboy error?
Thanks for any advice.

00dWi9-558747684.jpg.0813d163c578b61b4891092269468a76.jpg

 6.
We're back from our holiday in the Peleponnese and here is my first offering of "holiday snaps."
I took my 5D3, 70-200/2.8 IS, 24-105/4 and 17-40/4, and I'm presenting one shot from each lens.
7.
Last weekend I was one of the photographers at the Landrover Burghley Horse Trials and these are photos from the cross country stage on the Saturday.
All were taken with a 7D2, the first used a 24-105 and the other two used the 70-200/2.8 IS Mk1.
8.
On Monday I had a long day photographing polo in the rain at Tidworth, the last few tournaments have all been wet.
This week I've gone for some portraits rather than action shots. These were all taken using a 7D2+100-400.
9.
With a combination of rain and writing work, I haven't picked up a camera for over a week, and so I've dug out some shots from my film archive.
These are from a small carriage driving show I phoographed for a local charity and were shot using an EOS-1+24-105 shooting Ilord HP5+.
Since taking these photos I've made the move to Ilford Delta film.
Once again I've had to play with Flickr generated html to provide these links, so please let me know if they fail to show for anyone. I'm using chrome and they seem to show perfectly well.
10.
Here are some cricket action shots from a trip to Lord's to watch Middlesex vs Glamorgan in a one-day game, a game that turned out to be rather one sided.
These were all shot with a 7D2+300/4+1.4x.
Throughout the day, iso-values ranged from 200 to 2000.
Note: Flickr now gives "embed" coding that PN doesn't accept, so I'm having to edit the html. Last week there may have been a problem viewing the images, so let me know if that happens again.
11.
Other than missing focus and not being able to shoot, once in a blue moon, there's been no notoriety about my 7D, it's a real work horse. As it happens, the 7D2 will miss focus occasionally and will shoot out of focus, is that a resolution?

 12.
Here are some cricket photos from one of my days at Lord's last week
14.
The largest and second oldest polo competition in the world is the Captains and Subalters Trophy, which is played anually at Tidworth. The Saturday of this year's competition was played in sunshine, the Sunday was played in unrelenting rain.
My 100-400 eventually became fogged up and had to dry out overnight in a warm cupboard, the 7D2 carried on regardless.
All of these were taken with 7D2+100-400 combination

 15.
On the lower reaches of the web you will find lots of "Selfies taken immediately before the person was killed" galleries and in Russia a surviving selfies guide has been issued http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-33425805
So, it doesn't surprise me that yet another person has come a cropper.
By the way, in the last 12 months I've noticed a major change in what the Italian street hawkers are selling. They still sell rubbish umbrellas or shades and the fake luggage is still there, but now they sell selfie sticks too.

 16.
It's been a busy week with a good deal of writing and some photography too.
Last weekend was a tournament for university Officer Training Corps polo teams and yesterday was a small inter-service tournament.
As a little break, I managed to get out to the Thames to see the Royal Swan Uppers at Cliveden.
But no swans, alas.

All of these were taken with a 7D2+100-400
<a title="University OTC Polo Tournament" href=" University OTC Polo Tournament src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/499/19246534933_95b11f7348_b.jpg" alt="University OTC Polo Tournament" width="800" height="533" />
<a title="Leadership and Excellence Polo Tournament" href=" Leadership and Excellence Polo Tournament src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/464/19941486651_64e8441dff_b.jpg" alt="Leadership and Excellence Polo Tournament" width="800" height="533" />
<a title="Royal Swan Uppers" href=" Royal Swan Uppers src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/380/19701302218_8a8d1cabe9_b.jpg" alt="Royal Swan Uppers" width="800" height="533" />
