Hello all,
I'm a new Leica owner, I have a Leica iiif that I've had for a few months. I've just had the second film through the camera and have noticed some artifacts that appear on every fame of the film. They weren't on the previous film I had processed.
In loading that film, I had problems getting the film (with a correctly cut film leader) and had to remove it and reinsert it. Have I damaged the shutter curtain? I can't really look just now, because there's a fresh film in the camera.

Hello,
It's been away from these pages for some time and the site has changed considerably since I was here last.
I find myself rather confused about how the site works. How do I submit work for ratings or critique, in fact is that still a thing? In short, how does one participate in PN these days?
-
I've just had an email notification that a comment was made on my photo (
http://www.photo.net/photo/18261774 ) except it's not my photo and I haven't been involved with the discussions on that shot. Somewhere the PN workings are getting confused.
Has anyone else had this?

<p>I've been snowed under with writing work over the last week, so I haven't even picked up a camera. These are from from a visit to Cliveden Reach in late December.<br>

<p>It does sound like a defect - have you tried connecting it without the battery in it? under those circumstances, it should just be a cable release.<br>
If in doubt, send it back, Amazon doesn't give you that much time.</p>

I go through perhaps a roll of BW a week and a roll of colour film every couple of months. It's largely for personal
satisfaction, I've only had a few film images printed in the last few years.

<p>Here's a single shot I took before going into London to see the lights. <br />5D3+24-105<br>

I'm in my science writing time of the year just now, so I 'm not taking too many photos. Out of office hours it's dark or dull.
I'll take my camera into London to see the lights, but may just be carrying some dead weight.

<p>It's been the time of year when I can see the sun rise behind Windsor Castle ~8 miles away. On one day, I had the sun directly behind the castle, but there was so much atmospheric distortion that the images were really unpublishable.<br />Shortly after the sun rose over the castle, the aircraft flying into Heathrow went across the disk of the sun and I was able catch a few. Once again, the low level of the sun lead to gross atmospheric distortion, but I'm presenting one here for interest.<br />The two long range shots were taken with a 7D2+100-400+1.4x and the landscape was 5D3+24-70/4.<br />For the sun disk shot, I added a Hoya ND1000<br>

<p>Here are a couple of shots from last weekend's trip to Wittenham clumps in south Oxfordshire. The first is a four minute exposure of Brightwell Barrow, using stacked Hoya ND8 and ND1000 filters on a 5D3+24-70/4 IS. The second one is from when I looked behind my back for a moment and saw the sunburst.<br /> both have been processed using Silver Effex Pro2<br>

<p>I was slow on getting into this thread. Happily, I came up with the same answers as others.<br>
A very good site for identifying aircraft is this one http://www.airhistory.org.uk/gy/reg_N53.html </p>

<p>These taken at Lord's Cricket Ground and were shot on Ilford SFX200 on an EOS 1v+24-105 using a Red 29 filter. <br /> They need a bit more editing, but I'm planning to submit these two to a cricket photography competition.<a title="A day at Lord's" href=" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/9/8244/28957359593_c3d99cd115_c.jpg" alt="A day at Lord's" width="800" height="532" /></a><br /> <a title="Going off for Lunch" href=" src="https://c8.staticflickr.com/9/8101/29500408231_16155fe2da_c.jpg" alt="Going off for Lunch" width="800" height="534" /></a></p>

The National Gallery in London allows photography without flash in many galleries, but where paintings are on loan there
is no photography, presumably because that's what the owning organisation wants. You really wouldn't want flash guns
popping off around the National Gallery's Da Vinci cartoon for fear of light damage.
Interestingly, Prague Castle and some other places around there only allows photography is you buy a ticket.

I use Bridge to download my photos. I have two USB cables attached all the time, the USB2 for a 7D2 and the usual
micro (?) USB for other cameras and my GoPro.
There's no doubt the jpg direct from the cameras are not quite as good as the jpgs from processing the RAW files, but
many publications want in-camera jpgs. I like to prepare prints from processed RAW files.

The web site you linked to kept asking me to login/register.
So I'll take your word for it and move on.

<p>They look stunning - I wouldn't want to be out in that.</p>

<p>I photographed the cross country stage of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials on Saturday. There was some disparately heavy rain but my 7D2 and 5D3 kept working, some cameras by other makers came back with problems. Superb.<br>
