  1. <p>I just visited their site and found general information on film sizes. It is not exactly easy but it is under Lomography page:<br>

    <a href="http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk/lomographyfilmprocessing.html">http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk/lomographyfilmprocessing.html</a><br>

About the second block of text down they talk about extra costs for odd sized films. They do not mention Minox by name. If any of you are succesful, please let us know. It would be great news for other Minox'ers out there! </p>

  3. <p>Greetings Fellow Minoxers. I have a strange request. It seems that I have ended up with too many Imperial measuring chains and too many Metric cameras. Would anyone consider trading a Metric Chain for an Imperial one? I have one with a button hole tassle and one with a round metal clasp. Or if you have one forsale, that would work too!<br>

    Thanks!</p>

  4. <p>Ok, Ok, Minox Ny has been a slow for years now, this is true. Great people but getting your film back takes ages. Blue Moon is quite capable but prints tend to be on the small side. I recommend a German fellow, Carsten Chadt. Located in Siegen Germany. Yes, it is a Euro priced work but you get your film back very fast. I used Minox Ny from 1985 until 2005. Monika did well tracking my film and though it took ages, I kept coming back. Then I found Lab811.com run by Carsten. He has great equipment and even makes his own cameras as well as spliting his own film for retail. I have had nothing but FANTASTIC service from him. I have 7 rolls at his shop now, took a week through the post, he processed them in about two days and they are making their way back to me now. The price in Euros is well worth the speed, the quality and options available to you through his shop. I have been to his house and and his shop too. North of Frankfurt about two hours if you find yourself in Germany. </p>
  5. <p>I have a fair amount of new stock on hand. I can spare a rolls worth but the price is showing us your efforts! Where did you find slide film? I used to get mine from Paarz but they are gone now. Let me know where you want the frames sent. I have a couple of types, we must make sure they fit your Minox projector.</p>
  6. <p>I have used only a couple of rolls of Adox 25 ASA. It turned out well but I think it was the able German hands that it was given too and not mine. Nice grain structure and I too suffer over and under exposure habits. Just ask Carsten Chadt at lab811.com He develops my color print film and sends to one of his contacts in Germany for B&W processing. I do not know right off who he sent it too, perhaps you could contact him. Dont forget to repost once you get some shots developed. Good luck!</p>
  7. <p>I have experience with the man near Luton. Here is the web link to the Minox repair page:<br>

    <a href="http://www.angelfire.com/biz/Leica/page2.html">http://www.angelfire.com/biz/Leica/page2.html</a><br>

He helped me out back in 2003 and 2004 with Minox C, III and B repairs. I would call him first to see what his back log is. Last time I saw him was when he met me at the EasyJet counter at Luton airport and gave me my camera. I was transiting the airport and had an hour between flights. Really cool dude. If you are really stuck I can lend you a III until yours are repaired.</p>

  8. <p>135 USD is extreme. You should be able to find one for around 45 or so. Perhaps you should look at a Jobo tank instead. I realize the purist might want to stick with a real Minox tank but in light of finding one on the cheap might be hard considering your location. some body in your neck of the woods should have one. What do you think the shipping rates are for airmail to Australia? Perhaps you should look at European Ebay counter parts for help. </p>
  9. <p>I echo your thoughts. I keep my Minox III in my front left pocket. It is the first item before the wallet to be carried. I like the feel of the case in my hand and that without a battery I am ready to record what life presents. Those masses digitally zapping everything in sight with little or no future appreciation, I remove my camera knowning that what I take away will remain with me forever.</p>
  10. <p>I really think you should forgo the second TLX or even the C model and try a IIIs. A B model with a calibrated meter is cool but for the real Minox experience and staying with what its all about, I would go with the IIIs. Get a flash unit, some old bulbs and some B&W film or even color from lab811.com out of Germany. I have an LX, I have two B and even the C model but I carry the IIIs every day, its that portable. Its what Walter Zapp meant. the LX series is very nice but there is nothing like a pure mechanical shutter. Middle ground would be a Model BL, rarer still than the TLX you have but it marries the two worlds perfectly. A bit pricey though compared to a IIIs but cheaper than your TLX. In the end it will be your personal comfort level of camera automation. </p>
  11. <p>I can personally vouch for Lab811.com. Run by Carsten Chadt. I have been to his lab as well and he is the best on the planet. Yes, you can send it directly to him but you will have to pay Minox as they are the consolidator for films for developing in Europe. It does not add any additional time to the process. Using Minox Labs in thye US is tiring. I used them for 20 years and yes they are slow at times. The prints from lab811 are superiour due to Carstens attention to detail. You will not be disappointed, I promise!</p>
  12. <p>Blue Moon out in Oregon I think is fairly fast. Also, my personal favorite but a bit pricy with the exchange but way better prints than Blue Moon, No offence Blue, lab811.com in Siegen Germany. Carsten Chadt does it as soon as it hits the door and can turn it around for you airmail. It takes about a week to get there, a week for processing if there is a lot ahead of you in line and a week mail back. I have been using his services since switching from New York in 2004. You will not be disappointed. Make sure you get a new battery for your CLX before committing film. good luck shooting some frames!</p>
  13. Send it, if you must, to DAG camera repair. This is the first place to check for repairs at dagcamera.com. You might just need to order a new battery. Check if the battery compartment is corroded since this a problem area. Others here will also have good places to check for repairs. Good luck! Hope you get it working again, they do work well with the right film and operating parameters.
  14. Dont forget Lab811.com. Yes, it is in Germany but its good, its faster than most other sources. Carsten Chadt runs the show there and slits his own film of which I use. It is equal too or better than Mino Pro 100. Even with the Euro a strong as it is, its worth it. Buy it, shoot it and then have him develope it for you. I suggest scanning the negs rather than printning. Never the less, I still get mine printed for now. I like his machine/technique. Thats my two cents worth. Drop him an email via his website.
  15. Hello Gerard. I agree with Mr. Slotboom; fotoimpex.de out of Berlin is a good source of B&W. They have a couple of types. I have not bought Minox film while in France other than factory color when found by chance. I have a couple of expired rolls of 25 ASA laying around, if you want them I can send them to you at the end of the next week when I am actually in France. Pau to be precise. It is rare for me to shoot B&W though I used to only shoot that in the early days, for me anyway. Bon Chance!
  16. Ah yes, more evidence. I spoke to Carsten Chadt at Lab811.com in May at his house in Germany. He told me he does about 90 rolls of film per month. This coupled with the fact that so many do their own leads me to believe that Minox still eeks out an existance. The German Minox club is very active in keeping it alive if only in Germany. If anyone is looking for a replacement for Mino Pro 100, Lab811.com has some special stocks available that will surpass this type. Film will never die but it will fade from the normal consumer realm.
  17. Yes, there are more minoxers than you might think. There are a whole bunch of us out there snapping away with very little in the way of fan fare. I carry a Minox III, in the left pocket and prefer the film now available by lab811.com of Carsten Chadt. Carsten tells me he developes about 80 rolls of film at his shop in Germany each month. We'er here, just not always posting...

III(primary) LX (secondary) and a Yashica Atoron (reserve)

  18. A Minox will do when nothing else is available. If you are on holiday and you plan to do some touristy shooting, then you bring what you might use, like a Big Nikon and its own supporting elements. But I will always have a Minox III or a B in my left pocket. No batteries required. Not everywhere can you drag a primary digital or larger film camera but you can a Minox. Yes, it has limits but with those parameters, you can enjoy it a lot.

I'll agree to Bill's earlier post, that Minox is getting a bit tricky when looking for film and other needs. But with some work you can find what you need. Film is waining but it will be here for a long time still despite the Digital world. Minox is a worthy project for anyone and now even more so.

My answer for you is, jump on this train. We await your work, your view point, your subjects.

  19. I can't count how many times I have botched an otherwise good shot with my finger some how finding it's way to the lens window. That's one of the little things that Walter Zapp could not design out of the camera. Still a good shot.
