  1. Thank you for your answers, sorry for my late reply but I was on vacation.Sorry also if I'm going to write some foolishness, but by brain is burning, like my skin that now is red like a Ferrari.

I need a 2x converter, so I think I could go for the tc-300 since it's cheper than the 301 and it's dentical, I have a Nikon FE2 so I don't need the Ai-s spec, right? But if I can get an equal good converter for less money, well tellme about it? Are the third party converters up to the original ones?I just need a combo that can giveme a fair good photos, I'm not searching for the excellence.I think you understand my position.Bye

  2. I tried the inverse, with an ISO800 I shooted at ISO 600, the result? darker pics, but for me the result was better, because when you're shooting fast moving subjects with with centered-weighted metering camera you can't esteem the amount of reflection on them caused by the sun.

    Two examples:

    http://www.photo.net/photo/3227609 ISO800@600

    http://www.photo.net/photo/3228049 ISO800@600

As you can see the subject in the first pic is a little overexposed.

well I think the contrast is better in the last two, it's just personal taste...

Anyway do you think it's a good thing to set always a lower speed of the film in use in any situation?

  3. I really don't care about autofocus since I have a Nikon FE2:-)I could renounce to the 400 f 5.6 just because, as said above, in good condition that lens seems to be pricey.

Really some people say that the AF300F4 is better with the converter than without it?Since I'll mostly shoot wide open would you recommendme going by this way? Anyway I think it's a money matter, if I get a good deal on the 400f5.6 I'll probably buy it.

  4. AF 300mm F4+TC-14B or a MF 400mm f5.6 ED-IF? For the comfort you've

got is better the first combination, but in terms of quality what do

you say? From what I know the lenses alone are generally better the

with converters, is it true? Also correctme if I'm wrong, the 14B is

the only 1,4x converter wich can use with the AF300mm F4, isn't it?

    Bye

  5. Don't think too much about the ED glass. The 180mm f2.8 non ed is a great lens, sharp even wide open.I just bought one, and to say that I'm satisfied is reductive.Look at these pics I made with this lens: http://www.sportphoto.8k.com/photo.html

I would like to thank you all the people of this forum who helped me in the choice. When I went to the store I asked to the shopkeeper if there was the ED version, he told me that he hadn't one at the moment; but he assured me that the results you can get from this lens are superlative, and incredibly he asked me if I want to try it for one day for free, so I tried it and then I bought it.The only negative point is the minimum focus distance that is quite long.

  6. Hi again, I'm at the last meter from the goal, but I need the last

    advice.My options are the 300mm F4.5 ED-IF AI-S and the AF 300mm

F4.I mostly shoot wide open.I would like to buy from KEH or B&H.In

you opinion is it worth to buy an item in excellent+(KEH)/9(B&H)

condition or it's just a waste of money(about 100$) cause excellent

it's just enough...From the comments both stores are very good, do

    you agree?Bye

  7. I think it's only a question of exhausted battery. To check if it's a battery related problem, set the speed dial on A and then press half way the shutter button: if the the meter needle doesn't move your battery is exhausted. For more info on that go here:http://mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonfeseries/fe2/basic1.htm
  8. well, FE2 is a light camera...I think that the barycenter of the f2.8 is in front, where lens is wider, am I right? monopod it's a must with my camera, I'll go to check the Manfrotto website here in Italy this company is quite famous for doing light and compact tripod.
  9. Unfortunately here in Italy the renting of photographic equipment isn't widespread as in other country, there are only few stores in big city that rent stuff.Until now I satisfied my photographic needs just with a Nikon FE2+50mm+105mm f2.5, but this year I had the chance to work on the crane inside the Imola circuit during the F1 grand prix, so I'm searching for a good 300mm telephoto lens.So in these situations the light is very variable and fast shutter speed is a must, for sure if the sun shines there's no problem with a F4.5 lens but you never know...At what ISO number the grain of the film became visible? ISO800? the moste sensitive film I ever used is an ISO400.
  10. Hi, I would like to know how is the handhold ability with a Nikon

f2.8 in comparison to a F4.Because I was evaluating the possibility

to buy one, great quality nothing to say but for me who I'm not a

pro the comfort to bring it with me is quite important.Bye and thank

    you.

  11. Today, coming back from work,I tried a new AF 70-300D ED 4-5.6.I'm really disappointed, I don't like the misuse of plastic, and the low luminosity that make this lens usable only when sun shines. If you have to freeze the action with fast shutter speed you could have a problem with this lens. But I liked the weight, it's really light.I would buy a f2.8 but I'm afraid of the wheight and the size of this lens.On the other hand a f4/4,5 is more compact. It's up to me.Thank you very much for your advice and suggestion!
  12. Hi, this morning I had nothing to do(no work) so I went searching

for a zoom lenses for my FE2.One dealers offered me a used nikon

    180mm f2.8 AI + a nikon 300 f4.5 AIS for 400 euros.I think it's a

good offer, don't you think? I remember that the price of these

lenses was a lot higher 20 years ago, when I bought my first lens

    (Nikon 105mm f2,5 AIS F series,the only that I own)I paid near the

same but only for one lens... I'm not an expert of the photographic

technology, I just shoot, someone can tell me something about qualty

of these lenses? are they going to make me regret the purchase

comparing to the 105mm?Bye and thank you.
