Hello photo-friends. Just trying to find a way to organize within my own abilities and circle of friends. I am organizing an effort to collect Louisiana and Mississippi state quarters to donate to those impacted by this terrible disaster (<a href="http://www.katrinaquarters.com"> www.katrinaquarters.com</a>). I post to this forum for a special request of anyone that might be in the Gulf region documenting the events by film. We're running a Katrina blog and would be very pleased to add some photographs of the most current status of the region.
We can, of course, turn on the TV and get an edited view of the region, but we're more interested in a true documentation of the progress (or lack thereof) the region is taking. Attribution, of course. Do let me know if you'd be interested in contributing.

Finally shot my 2nd and 3rd roll of 120 in a 645E and am getting a couple of double
exposures on each roll at random locations (See sample here http://www.photo.net/
photodb/photo?photo_id=3248180). Wondering if there is something I'm doing wrong
during the load or the advance. Have checked to make sure I'm not in DE mode. I can
actually feel the film skippling over sprockets during advance. Any ideas? While I think
the sample I posted has some interesting value, I'm not interested in this happening all the
time/randomly.

I can't even blame KEH. I got the camera from B&H, and am assuming it came packaged
this way direct from Mamiya.

Ugh! I'm such an ass! I found the problem--clear as wax paper! It seems that in my
haste to shoot my first roll, I failed to look behind the spool and into the body for any
"other" shipping material. And thar she is. Nice piece of wax paper probably to reduce
any friction in the shipping process. Al least I know how to get a great roll of "super
grainy" shots. Sorry for disturbing the group. If nothing else, this goes into the log of bad
shots acting as best teacher.

So I shot my first roll ever on a medium format camera and I just got the film back today. I
have no idea what went wrong here (other than my spending a lot of money for some
funky looking images). The film is, to say the least, foggy, underexposed, and has a weird
texture all over the frame, plus a weird black mark that appears in each shot across the
bottom.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? I'm positive (I think) it's my lack of
understanding on how to use this camera, but I'd like to avoid these costly mistakes on
the next roll.

Not sure how to get the image into this forum posting, but the link to the image is <a

Thanks! This is really shocking to me in many ways($). I feel like someone bought me a
wonderful new puppy...but that's a big responsibility.
I'm tempted to buy the APO and use it for my shots and then sell it afteward. Of course,
I'll probably find myself falling in love with it and keeping it. I *do* need a new tripod/
ball. I see one suggestion of spending less on the lens and buying the new tripod. Would
that be the consensus of the group?

Wondering if anyone that's familiar with Mamiya lenses (or lenses in general) can explain
to me the differences (including advantages/disadvantages of each) between the following
specs.
MAMIYA M645 - LENSES
200 F2.8 APO A (77) MEDIUM FORMAT SLR MANUAL FOCUS TELEPHOTO LENS 200 F2.8
APO A (77) MEDIUM FORMAT SLR MANUAL FOCUS TELEPHOTO LENS
and
MAMIYA M645 - LENSES
210 F4 (58) WITH CAPS MEDIUM FORMAT SLR MANUAL FOCUS TELEPHOTO LENS 210 F4
(58) WITH CAPS MEDIUM FORMAT SLR MANUAL FOCUS TELEPHOTO LENS
Looking at KEH, it's about a $700 difference between the 2 and I'm unsure about what the
difference is.
Aplologies if this is totally basic stuff. My wonderful fiance bought me a Mamiya as a gift
and I'd like to get a telephoto for some landscape/monument photography in March.
Thanks in advance!
