<p>I've driven in Mexico for 2 years and when some one blinks his left indicator, for me it has always meant "the left lane is clear to pass...go ahead and over take"</p>

<h4><strong>It was almost a coincidence that November issue of Natgeo contained the article "A People Apart", about Tarahumara tribes of Chihuahua and I happened to visit the Copper canyon and happened to shoot the Tarahumaras and the canyon. Hello all,
Recently I had 11 days long vacation in Oaxaca, half of which was spent on Pacific side and the other half in
the central valley of Oaxaca. It's been the most memorable trip of my life and surprisingly it happened in just
$600!!! We saw flying dolphins, sea turtles, crocodiles in their natural habitat, Zapotec/Mixtec ruins and had
the best food our lives. Here is a detailed account of the trip, critiques are requested.
Pacific side: http://sachinb.blogspot.com/2008/09/oaxacan-odyssey-part-i.html
Central valley: http://sachinb.blogspot.com/2008/10/oaxacan-odyssey-part-ii.html
Thanks for stopping by.

Probably this could be helpful for dealing with different situations, just in case you're caught by a cop. Don't forget to read the embedded links in the article:

Thanks for responses. Batteries are original Canon ones that came with the camera and is about 3 years old. I guess it's time to change the batteries.

During my recent trip to Oaxaca, I experienced this strange problem. The battery was fully charged when I
started shooting during the travel. Then it drained to half life after a day long shooting. As usual, in the
night I plugged it to the charger and to my surprise the indicator blinked once, twice, thrice and finally
stopped blinking and was ON constantly (which is an indication of full charge) all in a matter of 4-5 seconds.
In other words the battery is not getting charged. I kept it in the charger throughout night and inserted into
camera the following day, the indicator showed only half life. And was completely dead again after 2-3 shots.
Everytime I plug it to the charger...withing 4-5 seconds it displays full charge indication.
I do travel photography and use 17-40/4L, 70-200/4L without any external flash (usage of internal flash is very
minimal). I use Kingston 2GB/4GB media for shooting.
Does it mean the battery is dead and needs a replacement? Or is it some problem with charger? I don't even know
anyone here who owns a 20D to check what's the fault.
Thanks for your responses.

Hello all,
I'm new to panoramic photography. Googling and taking assistance of few pano
shooters helped me to some extent and now I'm planning to make an investment on
the tools needed for pano shooting. A friend of mine suggested Nodalninja3 with
Manfrotto quick release plate 323. He forgot to mention about what tripod to
use. I would appreciate if someone could recommend a tripod which would be good
for pano shooting. My total budget is 500$, 200$ for NN3, another 50$ for
Manfrotto 323. So I'm left with another 250$ which I'm planning to get a
stable, pano ready tripod.
I don't really know the compatibilities between all the pano heads, release
plates, tripods etc. I would be glad if someone can make a completely new
suggestion which would fit in my budget, but remember I'm planning to do 360
panorama/QTVR.
By the way I shoot EOS20D with 17-40/4L and am planning to buy Sigma 8mm
fisheye in the near future for pano shooting.
Thanks in advance.
cheers,
Sachin

Michael: In the article, I've mentioned that in the night, rescue team was able to locate me only because I was flashing the built in flash of camera. And had they not been able to locate me in the night I might have died due to cold. It was freaking cold out there, less than 10 degrees centigrade I guess.

Hello all,
I'm not sure to what extent is this post relevant, but I felt like sharing
this with you. I recently had been for a trek and I had the closest encounter
with death, an experience not many would have had and none would want to have.
But my camera saved me and hence I feel it has some relevance in PN forums.
Call it courage or call it stupidity, I'm alive and that's what matters. Here
is the link to the detailed article:

Thanks for your time.
cheers,

good idea to go for this?

a. Nikon N80 (F80)
2) Lenses (2)
a. Nikon G Series (70-300)
b. Sigma - (28-105)
3) Filters (3)
a. UV filters for both the lenses
b. Polariser for bigger lens along with the connector to be used
with the smaller dia lens
4) Cable release (1)
5) Camera Case(1)

As Paul said its the blooming effect due to charges overflow on ur sensor.
There may be some optimized method in PS to fix this, but I used replace colors and could fix it in a jiffy.
Image->Adjustments->Replace Color
Select the blue bordering which is the result of blooming
Change the option from Selection to Image
Select the color with which u want to replace.
Here is the result, not sure if u're OK with this one.<div></div>

There is some batch processing option in Opanda EXIF, but I'm not sure if you can set the Description field to Filename. Never tried that, give it a shot. Good luck.
Cheers,
Sachin
-
Why dont you use free EXIF editors like EXIFER (www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/) or OPanda IEXIF (www.opanda.com/en/iexif/index.html) which has worked fine for me till date. The values, if set properly, should reflect in any viewer applications and its not software specific. Maybe some softwares gives you options of filling more fields, but the basic exif options will be provided by most softwares. Hope this helps.

Hello all,
I go out for a shoot and later realize that the sensor dust has affected most
of my photographs. Now let us assume that the sensor dust spots on all the
images have a fixed postion, is there anyway I can automate the task of stamp
tool (for dust removal from all my images) in PS2.
Thanks in advance for all replies.
Cheers,
Sachin

How do you transfer files to computer? I dont know what software you use, I use a card reader, copy the files in the explorer window to my hardrive and as you said, open RSE and navigate to the folder. This should have no problem in opening the files.
-
Thank you all your responses. I followed the same method stated by you guys, just moved the flash slightly towards right and pressed the flash button and it popped up. God know for what reason it was stuck for I dint find anything sticky or any dust. Thank you once again.
cheers,
Sachin

Help Help Help!
I've used my 20D for almost an year now and during my recent trip to Nanjing
the flash failed to pop-up. When I press the flash button, it makes sound "tak
tak tak tak" and displays "Error 05" on LCD and hangs. Once I power off and
turn it on then only I'll be able to use the camera. I tried many times but
same old annoying sound, also I slightly tried to pull the flash up by hand but
was in vain. I also searched the forums, all I found was error 99 but no
mention of error 05.
Thanks in advance,
Sachin

Hello all,
I have almost decided to buy 17-40/4L for my 20D. But just thought of taking
some opinions before I buy.
1. Is there any third party lens which costs less and equally sharper than
17-40/4L?
2. I'm buying it for general landscape, nature, street, occasional portrait and
travel purpose. Is F4 good enough? If not please recommend me any other lens
with wider apertures of same focal length range and good sharpness.
3. I am using my kit lens 18-55 and not really happy with sharpness (which is
quite obvious). The only reason I decided to buy this lens is for its "L" tag
which is known for its sharpness. Am I being judicious here?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for suggestion guys, after googling out and reading opinions in other groups combined with those given here, I decided to go for Canon 100mm.
Cheers,
Sachin
-
I also wanted to know one more thing. I have a Canon 50mm/f1.8 prime lens, how well it fares (for macro purpose) if I use the lens reversal rings for this lens? What will be the operting distance and DOF that I achieve using this? I've never used any lens reversing technique till now.
Thanks,
Sachin
