  1. I am having some success with my Minox Daylight tank; however, it seems the first 7 to 8 images taken on the roll- the ones that roll onto the daylight tank spindle last when loading for development- are not being processed properly. They wind up looking a bit as though they have not been fixed properly. I have been following the instructions that came with the tank. Anyone have any tips on how to properly use the tank? I do fill until it overflows into the drip basin, I wonder if there is an air bubble that forms inside and prevents adequate development and fixing.
  2. Folks

My Canon Digital Elph has the capacity to shoot in BW mode. I have

enjoyed playing around with this feature in the past. Does the D70

have the capacity to shoot in BW mode or must a person convert all

images to B&W with software after the fact? I have gone through the

manual, read the reviews, and have been unable to verify either way.

    Thanks

  3. Again, thanks to all for the great info.

I bit the bullet today, went down to Creve Coure Camera in St. Louis and bought a D70 Body. Tonight I sat in the very hard bleachers at my daughter's Jr. High and shot about 200 exposures during her basketball game. I have to say that it was the most positive photographic experience of my life. This thing will have to make a better photographer out of me just through sheer numbers of exposures taken. I would have had to burn up eight 24 exp. rolls to get the experience that the D70 gave me tonight. I have never dedicated myself totaly to composition like this before. I was actually tired of shooting.

    Thanks again.

    OBTW

1600 ISO was more than sufficient for my purposes.

  4. Thanks to all for your answers.

Yes, it is true, my 70-300 telephoto is very slow.I suppose that I will eventually have to bite the bullet and upgrade the glass.

No. I have not tried the higher ISO film. I suppose I should just to see the results. I did not mention, for brevity, that one of my problems with ISO 800 film is image quality.

My reason for going digital is that I am constantly finding that about 50% of the shots that I pay to have processed would have been deleted if I had had the delete option.

    Thanks again

  5. I am a novice with a Nikon F80 that I am comfortable with. In addtion

to the camera body I have 3 Nikor AF lenses that suit my every need.

After holding out for some time I have decided to purchase a DSLR.

The cameras I have considered include the Canon 20D, the Nikon D70,

and the Pentax *istD. While I found things to like about all, (I

really liked the ease of operation of the Pentax) I decided that,

considering the fact that that the D70 is priced so attractively and

that I already have the Nikor lenses, the D70 was the way to go.

However, an experience this past weekend has thrown me again into the

torment of DSLR selection uncertainty. I had an opportunity to shoot

some pictures at a local arenacross motorcycle event conducted

indoors. Lighting was tungsten and at about the same level you

normally find in a school gymnasium. I had my F80, my 70-300 telephoto

lens and ASA 800 Kodak film. I found that I could not take any action

photos because I could not shoot at above 1/60 shutter speed. While I

was not overly disappointed because I expected as much it did prompt

me to think about the fact that the 20D can go to ISO 3200 while the

D70 can go only to ISO 1600.

My question is this: Is the ISO 3200 capability of the 20D a feature

that I should consider a big plus in view of the fact that I do find

myself more than occasionally shooting indoors at events like my

    daughter's jr.high basketball games?

    Thanks for any help.
