this 3/3 has been going on for many years. i,am an old timer here, and i have seen many complaints about the instant 3/3. It will never change,it gets me very angry, because it,s discouraging to photographers in need of feed back in words, to let us know how people truely feel about our work. The 3/3 is a slap in the face.
But if you take the time to realy think about it, the 3/3 means nothing. The rating of your work is in your heart and in your soul.

If you want to know how your photos rate ask honest people. your friends your coworkers.,yourself. know enough about photography so that you know when you have a good shot. there are plenty of books on photography, that will tell you what a good creative photo should be. the rating system here has many flaus and will never be honest.
join a photo workshop, talk to other photographers in your area, show your work. stay away from the rating game it will break your creative spirit.

this has gone round and round for years, it hasn,t changed the rateing system and the rating system will never change so get over it, and move on. Don,t rate just comment, don,t check your ratings just read your comments.

Bob Atkins; please tell us what is being done to correct this problem. the problem is real, so say many photographers who come here often.
-
it has been suggested many times in the past and once again right now, that a rating should be taged along with a comment, no comment no rating, or is it rateing; witch ever; there would be fewer rateings, but the rateing you did get would be honest, and justified by the comment.
-
one trick i have learned is to delete the image you recived low ratings on , redownload it and repost it for critique at a differant time of day, and the ratings will change, most of the time for the better.

Sivio this is a problem that this site photographers have been suffering with for a very long time. it is a dishonest cowards rating, and has no foundation. your photo is wonderful and you should be proud of it.

Rare if at all do you recive comments from any of the better photographers on this site, maybe because they are to busy or they have lost interest. a comment of incouragement from anyone at least shows someone is noticeing your work. the question is how do you get the more knowledgable photographers to critique? i don,t have the answer just the question.

Kevan i,am going to look at your porfolio and comment on the photos that catch my eye. i would like you to do the same for me. maybe the two of us can start something new here. anyone who would like to join us are welcome.

MY two favorite porfolios on photonet are Jayme Halls and Wade Rose, both have a tallent for inspiration. In my oppion Jim Adams has the most creative nude porfolio,in this time when nudes come under a lot of heat,no one can do nudes like Jim.

i knew it was comming, i didn,t know who it was comming from.

is the spelling that bad that such a tool is nessary for simple communication? this site is about photography not spelling or grammer.

i think if you had to comment in order to make a rating, this would cut way back on mate rates. it would take to much time to comment and rate to be effective for the mate raters. Maybe?
-
Philip, i have been a long time critiqic of the rating system, but i would welcome your idea. I think it is well worth trying. Thanks for listening to the members.

i once asked a question simular to your here in this forum, Brian,s responce was that this website was not a teaching tool. maybe not by desighn , but i can tell you from my own experance, you can learn, and you can teach. by posting your photos for critique, many wonderful photographer here will comment and incourage you, we will see your creativity and see life as you see it. if you in return comment on photo that interest you, in return you will learn about photographers around the world, there techniques and there passions.
keep shooting keep posting keep commenting keep learning.

you take some very nice photos, because you got average ratings your not going to take photos anymore? that would be very sad for you and everyone around you,it is an outlet for your creativety, and an expresstion of the person you are. keep shotting and the hell with the ratings. make yourself happy.
