1.
I should say I am very familiar with CS3 and do not have this problem with CS3. I can increase brush size to 2100 (full screen size) with no problem. The problem I am having in CS4 is that when I increase selection or stamp size above 80 (apx the size of a finger nail) the selection circle disappears completely. I can still make a selection but I am doing it in the blind.

  2.
From time to time I find myself scouting new locations without my gear. I would like a P&S I can slip into my pocket or carry bag and still capture images I could show a client. Most of the images would be in standard outdoor lighting. Landscapes, buildings etc. Blow ups of 8x10 up to 13x19 max. I know I am asking a lot for a P&S.
My question: At optimum settings which P&S model produces the closest results to a decent DSLR. Zoom & ISO range is not an issue. Lack of noice and crisp imaging being primary importance.

  3.
Marc Williams & I were once shooting bridals in a wonderful little park on our way to a reception. The twilight setting created the perfect diffused light from the sky with the beautiful thick clouds near an old gazebo, it was just perfect except for just one small problem. The sky opened like I have never seen... it was almost like a tropical cyclonic wave of water that completely drenched all of us with no warning and it lasted 30 minutes. We all scrambled to the cars but the limo driver drove off for a few minutes while we were taking photos! So we all had to jam into Marks vehicle. The B&G had to lay across camera bags, tripods, and other equipment! Imagine the Bride & Groom and Mark & myself jumping into a lake... same results. Just another good reason to always have a backup body and lenes at all events. We can look back and laugh about it now but Marc was shooting digital medium format and I was shooting with my Mark III which both got soaked as well!

  4.
The orders issued by clergy is to ment to honor the sanctity of the ceremony as well as the formals at the alter afterwards however IMO the bride and groom should have a say in those rules considering this is one of the most significant events in their life times.

At a wedding shot by Marc Williams and myself in a very dark and gloomy church we were ordered not to take flash photos of the bride, groom and family after the wedding was over, at the alter. Why? Perhaps only God knows the answer to that...

  5.
Even with high ISO's and IS lenes standard, I suggest owning a tripod. My partner and I have used one at every wedding we have ever shot. I don't however believe this would justify carbon fiber, as aluminum will work just fine for you.

  6.
I think this also depends on your style of shooting. IMO shooting events and weddings in a journalistic style requires fast zoom lenes mostly in wide to mid range for fast action and confined shooting areas. The Canon 24-70 has been a great performer for me on one body and the 70-200 on the other. If I were to pic a prime as a third lens it would be the 35.

  7.
I use 8gig cards now because prices are so reasonable. Dual memory slots has been my solution to this very question. Talk about piece of mind, and if dual card shooting is not possible, keep Mike Bisoms reminder list taped to your card holder.

  8.
Every wedding I ever shot I was included in the dinner arrangements. Many times the bride and groom would ask us if we had enough to eat. I can only think of two weddings in which we were not treated as guests and ate dinner in a seperate room.

  9.
Build quality should be better however I use this lens often with pleasing resulsts. (usually in the f2 range for many journalistic images and f8 in the studio). I also believe that an upgraded lens design is past due. This lens needs to produce sharper images.

Over rated? I'd say yes

I'm not sure I follow. The software supplied with the 5DMII for raw processing is quite limited indeed compared to CS4. I use most of the raw processing features of PSIII with my Canon MarkIII. The reason I ask the question is that I am pleased with PSIII and wondered if I could find a program with compareable processing features without making the upgrade to IV.
Canon should have made it clear, that CSIII no longer would be of use to owners of the new 5DMarkII for raw processing.
