Hi all!
I spoke with a gentleman today who owns a vintage Leica IIIc Rangefinder 35mm camera, and he asked me if
anyone out there could replace his cloth focal plane shutter?? It has some holes in it. Any cost estimates/addresses
would be appreciated! Thanks again for your assistance.

Hi,
I posted a thread about missing 2 battery covers for my newly acquired CANON
EF SLR camera, and was fortunate to have a member (STEVE) respond to my
request. He had the items in the mail almost instantly, what a great person! My
son was looking for a camera for his photography class, and the Canon was a
good choice, now he is even happier because he can actually use the meter
(battery-powered) in the camera. It is "very" difficult to locate any parts for
these older Canons, and we are very impressed with the helpful members on this
forum. We just wanted to make sure Steve got a big "THANK YOU"!
-
Steve, Thats great news! I'll email you. Thanks again.

Thanks for the help Gordon!

Thanks for the information. Maybe I'll find a parts camera somewhere. In the meantime I can still use it, thank goodness the engineers at Canon allowed the camera to still be used without batteries! I'll just have to dig out my exposure meter.

Hi,
I am trying to locate (2) battery covers for my Canon EF SLR. The EF was
built on the F-1 Frame, but used 2 batteries, so I imagine that the battery
covers were interchangeable? I'm having a hard time finding these covers. Any
ideas? I can't find any sources online thus far. Thanks for the help! I am
able to manually use it, but would like to have the meter working.

Thanks for the info. Bob.

Thanks, I'll do that!

Hi,
I know this is a Pre-1970 Forum, but I found a beautiful old early 70's Canon
EF (similar to the F-model) camera, but it is missing the 2 round, metal
battery covers for the bottom. It takes the 2 625 batteries, I believe. I need
the batteries to get the shutter to fire. Any ideas on where I could obtain
these covers? I tried googling Canon Battery Covers, etc.. but no luck. I'd
like to get it going!! Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have fun with those old cameras... they are a hoot! You'll never stop at one, or two though... they sort of grow on you. They don't make them like they used to... I use digital, but they just don't have the same feel/(smell!!) as the the old ones. I sometimes get cameras from yard sales and wonder how many hands they've passed through... my favorite is a vintage Rolleiflex that came over from Italy after WWII... if it could speak, it could tell lots of stories. So, there really is a history with these classics. Enjoy the Winter in New England!

Hey Rose,
Welcome to the world of vintage cameras!! I too got hooked about 10 years ago, and I haven't stopped since. I use some and display some. Where abouts in New England? We moved to Maine from AZ 5 years ago, it's a photographers dream up here! AZ was nice too(scenery)... too crowded for us though. Have fun with your cameras.

Thanks to everyone for the good info on my Kiev! This one is really a nice camera! It is SO CLEAN!! I am totally impressed with the *Bay seller in the Ukraine! I will let you know how the first roll turns out!
-
And.. the film cassette/spool
-
Another pic..

I've been wanting one of these for awhile, so I finally broke down and bid on
one from the Ukraine, it arrived in PERFECT condition! I am really pleased with
the condition, haven't run any film though it yet. I did have a question about
the film spool/cassette that came with it. Should I use the cassette or just
take the spool out and use it? Could I re-wind the film out of the cassette
when the roll is completed inside the camera? I've never used a combo with the
cassette and spool. Also, the spool looks as if the film leader may need to be
cut down to fit in it. Thanks again.. I'm looking forward to using my Kiev!

That one shot looks like "Coffee Pot" rock.. that's what they called it because of the shape.. I'm a former AZ guy.. now a New Englander! Nice shots with the Graphic. Can't beat those cameras. Does it have a Kodak lens?

I'm a transplant from Mesa, AZ to Maine 5 yrs. ago,... wouldn't trade it (Maine of course) for anything! The AZ landscape is nice, but the cities were too big for us. I was in Law Enforcement, don't miss it a bit! We love it up here in Maine. Been up Mt Lemmon, it is nice. Did you get up to the Mogollon Rim? That is another nice spot in the Mountains, nice views from up there. BTW, nice photos!!

You folks are super! Thanks so much for the information, its a good forum for advice, I can always count on this site for expert opinions. Have a great weekend everybody.

Thanks for the good information.... didn't have a clue about the lens value! Mike..... ( That's a good one John! :-))

I was in one our local antique stores the other day and the gentleman has a
Contax III package that was given to him on consignment. It is a Contax III body
(meter still works), Sonnar 50mm lens, Sonnar 135mm Lens, Biogon 21mm Lens,
with some other Zeiss accessories in a leather bag, looks real nice but hasn't
been used in ages! The shutter did fire fine though, real clean items. He
wanted $550.00 for the whole thing, seems alittle high to me, but I don't deal
with a lot of Contax items. Thanks.

Thanks for the input.... after manipulating the shutter button for a short spell, it actually started to work properly!! BUT... after about another 5 minutes of working properly.. the shutter button went down, and wouldn't come up.. as if the spring that depresses it malfunctioned! :-(((.. oh well, it probably sat too long.. so now it will have to be disassembled and repaired. Cosmetically it is a winner though! I'll probably put in **ay... as a fixer upper! Thank anyhow for the help.

Hi,Thanks for the response. The mirror doesn't stay up until I cycle the frame handle, then it brings the mirror to the UP/LOCKED position, which blocks off the view through the viewfinder screen. Only after I press the shutter button, then the shutter fires, and the mirror drops down again so I can see through the viewfinder to compose my next shot. I don't know if it is a malfunction or designed this way, where after you compose the shot, you have cycle the handle to cock and shoot the frame? I'm at a loss, maybe it is a camera malfunction, it is quite old!
Thanks

Hi,
I recently acquired this camera from a yard sale.. it is in nice condition,
although it has a different lens on it, not a ROKKOR. The lens is a REXATAR
AUTOMATIC 135mm. I can focus/compose with the camera only when the shutter is
NOT cocked, when I cock the shutter/film advance, the screen is blackened out,
and only then will the shutter trip! Is this a normal feature of this camera?
It seems odd that after composing the shot, I have to advance the film to shoot
the picture. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong? Thanks for the help.<div></div>
