  1. Might be a good idea to look around for a 20d instead of a 10d so that you also can mount the EF-S lenses without altering them.

This will give you more options on the wide end without the need to "modify" the lens. Good friend has this dilema now : regrets that his 10d does not accept EF-S.

The EF-s 18-55mm kit lens is also a good sollution to start with...if you have a 20d!

Would try to get a 20d instead and this kit lens...later on buy the very good EF 10-22mm from Canon.

  2. PS bought this one instead of a backpack because I did not like the idea to carry a backpack somewhere in crowded places with all my gear on my back ... where I can't see it.

Ended up with the LowePro Pro Mag 2 because I wanted a bag where I was able to but my 20d in it with the EF70-200f4L still to the body.

So that I do not have to change lens all the time when I want to store the camera in the bag during a walk.

  3. LowePro sholder bag : Pro Mag 2 AW

Don't let the pics fool you :it is a huge shoulder bag!

    Can fit my 20d + 430EX + EF-s 17-85 + EF 70-200 f4L + EF 50 f1.8 + filters (circ. pol + GND's) + spare battery

And then one might still find some extra space to put stuff in.

Only downside is that it does not open that easily while carying : to get the zipper past the strap/buckle on the sides...but knew this in advance.

  4. Canon USA has announced that customers with the Battery Grip BG-E2 used with the EOS 20D and 20Da, and a certain serial number range can return their grip/magazine for a free repair/replacement. This is due to a cases where even with fully charged batteries (exclusive battery pack or NiMH battery) or unused AA size batteries, only a few shots can be taken or 'bc' is displayed immediately.

  5. Same for me!

Also have the EF-s 17-85 and the EF 70-200f4L and do not see that much difference. So would not be able to guess which lens I used on a certain picture without seeing the exif data.

Same for the EF 50 f1.8

(Except for the backrground blur caused by f1.8 or so...)

  6. How do you mount a lens hood for a 67mm lens on a 72mm polarizer?

Have a B+W 67mm MRC circ.pol. and still can mount the EW-73B hood on the EFs 17-87mm.

But like the other person said : using it is not so easy since you have to reach inside the hood or always remove it to change spmething on the filter

  7. To comment on Iori.

One of the reasons I bought the EF70-200f4L and not the previous version of that EF75-300IS is that it has the same filter size as my EF-s 17-85.

So far I did not miss having a IS system on it.

Only donwside if you ask me (except that whit colour if you do not want to attract attention)is the lenght of the lens when you want to put it in your bag...espacially when it it still attached to the body!

Bought a new bag so that I was able to do this (20d + 70-200f4L = about 24cm)
